I want Mexico to get 6 points and still not qualify for the round of 16. It's currently in play. Germany blows out South Korea, beats Sweden by a goal. Sweden beats Mexico by a goal or more. Mexico beats South Korea 1-0. If it came to that, Germany would be top of the table, Sweden and Mexico would be tied but Sweden would advance. This is the scenario I need as a USMNT. That'd be the most heartbreaking World Cup ever for an El Tri fan.

Yeah - I'm going way, way back to a prior debate.

Picking is just a crap shoot. There are probably 4-6 teams that are close to equal and up to 10-ish that wouldn't shock me if you said they won.

I can't see past Germany. I don't think France has the mental toughness, and I don't think Brazil will defend enough. That said, if forced to "pick to win", I think I'll go with Spain based on how I am projecting the ko bracket right now.

This is why in the corrupt bidding of the TV rights, FIFA gave FOX 2026 for free. Because they knew Russia and Qatar too would stink.

Since WC2026 is expanding to 48 teams, seems a great opportunity for FIFA to expand the broadcast rights to get competing channels in the same country. Let ESPN/ABC go head to head with Fox when airing each match.... would be another cup of carnage for Fox. I know which channel I’d tune in to.

I think they gave FOX 2026, so as not to get their assess sued for switching the 2022 WC to the middle of the NFL season.
