I like it better when Lampard plays on the other side. Of the pond, of course.

I agree you are right. I disagree with the decision.

Klinsmann and now Kreis both seem to agree he's best as a deep lying playmaker. I'm going to side with them.

Mix can play a number of roles, but his offensive skills are slightly overrated and his defensive skills are very underrated. He's perfect playing in the back of a 4-2-3-1 midfield or any of the bottom three spots in a well functioning 4-4-2 diamond midfield.

Live with, sure. Like, not so much.

They wanted him so much, they ought to just do us a solid and keep his old ass. If he shows up, I hope he does well while he's booed.

I dont think the booing will faze him one bit. They often get it and its part and parcel.
He will do well, like him or not he will make a deference and he will help the others.

I had him in the double pivot with Poku. A nice mix of Poku breaking up play and easy passes to Mix from him and the defence and Mix can spray the ball about as a deep laying playmaker should. A good use of his resources.

I like it. I want more attacking options on the field than just Villa and a partner too, and the 4-2-3-1 gives three spots for the group of Villa, Shelton, Taylor, Calle, Nemec, and Mullins.

Hope you're right (assuming you mean difference). I have no idea what will happen, beyond me booing him. I hope I'm not the only one, but if I am, I'll just re-double my effort.

I didn't like him well before the MCFC "loan" and I didn't like the signing. Best I can tell, he's confirmed the best and worst of what anyone thought of him. I just don't like him representing my city. It's not my choice, but I can still be displeased and boo and bitch on the Internet.

You seem like a smart guy with a sense of humor and fairness. You should try joining up with us ECs. It's really quite freeing.

Yup i would go with that. Villa would be easy to pick up on his own but if the fullbacks can bomb on and the ACM like Lampard or McNamara can support with Taylor, Shelton, Nemec pulling the defence, Villa can work either in the spaces or 1v1 and i like the odds of 1v1 for Villa.

I think he's a CM. He should have the freedom to move around.

The Kreis argument, I'll buy. The Klinsy one, I'll question a bit. I think in a perfect world, Mix would be an 8. Alas, we don't have that.

ECs?

I can be as bitter as any fan, but thats all part and parcel of the game. I would always distrust someone who didn't.
I will give respect to NYCFC because i am interested and as i have said it seems a good way to get to know the league.
As i think it will zoom upwards over the next few seasons.
How the MLS handles the cross into dovetailing with the rest of the world will also be worth watching.
The gloves are off for other teams but thats how it rolls.

If Poku holds correctly and i mean no wandering more than 10m from the defence, Mix can. He can step into the centre and if he has the lungs have can burst late into the attacking third, ghosting in to snaffle a few goals.

Whenever Lampard has played as a 10, he's looked uncomfortable and outta his element. If it was a 433 with Poku sitting between Mix and Lamps, you'd be able to play to both of their strengths while minimizing the running all 3 have to do. It was pretty evident in the Orlando game that Mix is the only creative option we have. A 433 wouldn't limit his creativity (as much as a 4231 would) as Mix and Lamps would ideally rotate as the one who went forward.

I will say that we are definitely a good midfielder shy of being a playoff team at this point. The good news is, we will have time to make up ground after summer transfers.

The bad news is, we don't know how Frank will transition and if he will be the sort of good midfielder we need. I am not enough of an expert to know. I could see arguments either way.

I do know that Mix will have to run his ass off if Frank is in the team, and I would rather not see that. I prefer to see good, younger talent have the opportunity to hone their skills for club and country. Frank may give us 25-30 games. Mix could give us 7-9 years.

I don't care about showcasing names. I want to build a great team. I do not want to spend my money as sponsor for a retirement fund Sunday league team.

I still sort of like the 4-1-4-1, with Poku at DM, for the same reasons you're mentioning and that we need more pace in attack. I think a 4141 or what you suggest would allow us to get the greatest number of our best players into their most natural roles. Would like to see both given a run out.

Either would seem to be best for what we have now and what we will have assuming FF joins up.

That said, I hardly think I'm more qualified than Kreis to make the decision. I'm sure he has a plan.

4141 and 433 are the same thing IMO. 3 CMs, 2 wingers, and a ST. Either way you wanna put it, not only does it allow what you said it is, it also allows for the most flexibility. Hypothetically, you have Mix and Lamps alternating between operating as 8 and 10, both 8s, both 10s, the wingers being able to play up the pitch or defensively to pack the MF with 5 players. I love what the triangle in MF provides which is why I hope it's either a 442 diamond or the 433.

What is ECs?

I doubt very much it will be seen as a Sunday league team but even with 25-30 matches, Mix will learn a lot. Both Lampard and Villa will pass on good pieces of info during matches and at training. It is primarily why they are there.

I can understand and have no problems wanting to run but be honest the walking stage is where the team is at the moment. You dont pass up the chance to work with players who have won WC CL La Liga PL and countless other things. It is prime knowledge and it is that which will help set up the club. It really is nothing to do with showcasing names but names have weight and weight counts. If the money had been spent on players who had won nothing i would be with you all the way but again there is over 1000 matches of prime knowledge there. Every player there will learn.

In 5-6 years, yes Mix and the rest (if they are still here) will be the knowledge bank and the cycle goes on.
