I'm pretty OK with most of the characters fates and the outline of the plot it just happened way too fast. Most network shows have way too many episodes (generally 20 something) and have filler episodes. This season was way too short and it almost feels like we were left with the cliff notes version of the season.

I’m just disappointed about Bran. His character could be removed entirely and very little of the show would be changed. I don’t know if they had a different idea with the three eyed raven stuff when the show started but it was obvious after Martin stopped helping he entirely disappeared and became insignificant.
Pretty much what I expected. Glad they leaned heavily on Peter Dinklage as he was the best and most consistent part of the entire series.

Agreed that is salvaged about as much as could be asked after the previous nose dive, but still......
The saving grace was that Ghost got his Alpha back.
Can’t believe being a Targaryen and rightful ruler didn’t save Jon from the wall (again).... sure he killed his aunt, but she was nuts and even the dragon didn’t go against Jon knowing what he did. Just seemed like a cop out to ignore the hereditary secret at that point. So did he leave on a ranging, or was he leaving intent on being a free folk ala Mance Rayder?
Also can’t believe that Arya’s best skills as a Faceless Woman was killing Walder Frey, and then never used again. Sure she’s a badass fighter, but Faceless Men are feared for their stealth and invisible ability to strike. Cersei and Daenerys both could have been taken out with nobody the wiser and instead a city burned and Jon took the fall..... [sigh]...... and when did she become a sailer?
Is Castle Black even important anymore now that there’s a gaping hole over where Eastwatch once stood?
House Lannister has nobody at the helm with Tyrion as Hand. Brienne turned her back on her house to head the Kings Guard. Sam turned his back on his house to become a Maester. Some questionable family decisions going on (not that Tyrion had a choice).
And King Bran the Broken was surprising to say the least. Maybe I’m forgetting his past actions, but he’s never stuck me as being a wise kid/man - made a ton of bad decisions and cursed Hodor to a life as a simpleton who sacrificed himself holding the door. And now he’s king??? I hope the super vertical Red Keep gets retrofitted for a wheelchair quickly, otherwise Podrick is gonna need to bulk up carrying Bran around.

This is a confusing take to me. He sets the entire plot in motion and without him the white walkers would have won, no?
It’s not. It was all they could do to rescue Jon. There is no nights watch. That’s why the only people there were wildlings.
It was simply a way to get Grey Worm to agree to a punishment that didn’t involve death.
White Walkers still move south no? The show starts with white walkers in the first episode. So they’re already prevalent before Bran becomes the 3 eyed raven.
What I understood from this is that from now on the three-eyed raven would be the one chosen as king. Tyrion did say "The new king will be chosen at *this* spot (aka the dragonpit) but it sounded to me more like, the wisest person who knows all past and present, someone who has seen all failures of mankind until now, would have the best and most game-theoretical answers to everything, and therefore the three-eyed raven is the best fit for king.
Are all of those “who will sit on the Iron Throne” and “who will rule the seven kingdoms” bets and pools now pushes?
Don’t think so. Those guys were definitely wearing the black as were others in the courtyard at Castle Black. Additionally, the Shadow Tower was never involved in the war so theoretically there were men of the nights watch there.
So is the assumption that Jon pulled a Ned Stark and confessed to the murder? No body and no dragon created space for many excellent versions of her disappearance that didn't include Queenslaying.
Of course he copped to it. He's Ned Stark's son, even though he isn't. Plus I think the big blood stain on the floor was a bit of a tell, and few would have believed she just decided to fly away to Dragon Land right after she finally won and gave that speech.
The dragon destroyed the iron throne, which leaves a lot of room for interesting stories.
Is "Dany flew off on Drogon" harder to believe than, "Jon killed Dany, then Drogon destroyed the iron throne but left Jon, who you don't known is a secret Targaryen, alive?"
I agree about the raised by Ned Stark thing, though.
It was pretty cool how Arya found that magical white horse at the end of S8E5 and then rode it a few blocks to not-out-of-town and let it go.
