Great Atmosphere For The Seattle Game

I expect the majority of the crowd to quiet down but not the supporters section. There were definitely some folks trying to keep it going but it seemed like they couldn't get more than a dozen people together on anything.

I don't know, personally I don't feel obliged to pretend everything's awesome 100% of the time just because I sit in the supporters section. The fans feed off the players and vice versa. There are good nights and bad nights, but hey, that's football. I'm glad for the positivity though.

Gene - we need to compare note on brothers and teachers - class of 00 here. I wonder what changed over 25 years.
After twenty five years the same man is teaching Spanish at that school?!

This whole "Puto!" Chant is very versatile. My high school used it when the opposing team was shooting free throws!

my favorite chant from high school basketball was when we knew the name of an opposing players girlfriend ... we'd chant "Lauren Sheckle has herpes (clap clap clap clap clap) what kind of herpes? (clap clap clap clap clap) Genital Herpes (clap clap clap clap clap) or even better when theyd be at the game and we'd point at the lady in question and simply chant "she's got herpes" ... yup once an eagle ... always an eagle

Most of my high school's student body was and still is made up of Mexican Americans and Mexican nationals. In my class we had maybe 9 gringos (American white people). As you can imagine, the majority of our cheers and chants were in Spanish. For example "Viva La Cate!" We did have quite a few cheers that were quite profane in both English and Spanish.

One of my favorites:
"Give me a Q!" x 4
"Q!" x 4
"What's that spell?!"
"4 Q's! Or F*ck you!"

yes, originally from mexico... but its a spanish word. and like you said... small number of mexicans, but we have half the stadium chanting it... thats more than a small number of mexicans. its a phase we're going through... securitas has a lot of people to throw out.

That's very true everyone else at the stadium able to understand it join in. I guess I'm one of the few that gets bothered by it and I was just pointing out where it came from.

Other than that the atmosphere was great specially after the national anthem and during the beginning of the first half. 2nd half, goal celebration was awesome.

Thats a joke right, your grown up now and its still your favorite. Hope you don't have kids and pass that on.

It's on Third rail to come up with something different on goal kicks and drown out the puto. Nature and soccer fans abhor a vacuum.

I'no not all that optimistic that this would work, I think any goal kick cheer is doomed to become "puto". Best suggestion I have heard is to do a positive cheer for our goalie's kicks instead.

Yea this Puto chant has gotten out of control! Where I sit it's very evident and very loud!! I never participate bc I find it to be a little vulgur.

I am the first one to scream BOOO at the top of my lungs when a corner is kicked from my side, not sure the fans around me appreciate that as I've gotten looks and someone actually told me that was rude....I replied, it's NY... rude is kinda our thing.

The chants won't develop organically, we have such a diverse culture that has watched soccer in like every country in the world and every culture...our chants will be like NYC, diverse, vulgar and all over the place.

I've never heard the asshole chant tho in sec 108

But the intensity is either hit or miss, I don't feel there's a constant energy like I've seen at other stadiums like DC or even for the cosmos (if you have ever been, it's incredibly exciting)

What if we did a You fat bastard chant, or something similar. That way it clearly is too long to be confused with puto.

lol why not just do the "Fua" when Saunders kicks the ball on goal kicks.

Fua came from some video, where some drunk dude was talking about alot of crap and then going giving some "philosophy" on life. that extra effort "fua" is that extra effort you give when things dont go your way and to use fua to overcome anything, or something like that.

This was done in the final of the u-17 WC in 2011 but didnt really catch on

Why don't we just whistle during the goal kicks

I'm all for some whistling. There has been none whatsoever at any of the home matches. Plenty of boos though.
