Home - 03/15 New England Revolution

I hope Nemec doesn't get the start. He hardly added anything to the team last Sunday.

Yeah versus post or turf.

But besides Nemec I'm not sure we have anyone with straight out heading ability.

He was effective at holding the ball up though. I agree that he was super wasteful when he got his chances but I wouldn't write him off just yet. Depends what Kreis wants to do.

I wasn't able to watch Sea/NE but I've seen highlights, read some post-match articles and reviewed WhoScored.com's analysis. It seems like Agudelo, who started at the top of a 4-2-3-1, had a very poor first game back in MLS. Davies didn't play at all and Bunbury, who picked up an injury, was the Revs' best player. Gonçalves, who I think has been their captain at least at certain times in the past, seemed to have a pretty good game. They will be relying on him at the back a lot this year especially during JJ's absence. From what I saw/read, they really missed JJ's bite in midfield/defense and Nguyen's creativity going forward. Despite all of the foregoing, the Revs still split possession 50/50 at Seattle which is pretty impressive. The problem is that Seattle had more quality at every position (without Nguyen and JJ in the lineup) and did more with their possession than NE.

I expect NE to stick with the 4-2-3-1 but move Agudelo to the right wing in Bunbury's absence and put Davies up top as the lone striker. I also think Nguyen will start against us in the center of their midfield and play 60-70 minutes. As for possession, based on what they did at Seattle in a bad game (50/50) and what we did at Orlando in a bad game (46% for us), I think possession will be a tough battle and I hope we can get better spacing although that will be difficult in narrow Yankee Stadium. For me, this is a must win with NE being a bit weak at the moment, but it will probably be a very very close match. I'll say 2-1 for NYCFC.

I fully expect Nemec to start alongside Villa on Sunday. Andrew Farrell and Goncalves are going to be miserable thing to defend him. He's 6'3" at 200 lbs. Farrell is 5'9" at 160. That's a huge advantage for us in the air and on crosses and we really need to utilize that

So it's been reported that the game has already near sold out; 30,000+ tickets have been sold and that's 20,000+ away from the max capacity for Yankee Stadium. You think that they can still fill it in time? I want us to have a near-sold out game.

20k in less than a week? That'd be real tough. Think they'd rather be sure they can boast about a sell-out.

Don't think it will be as tough; more marketing is being done with this team a lot more than the NYRB ever had in NYC. I don't think that it'll be impossible for a near-sold out game.

I don't think there's any chance they sell out the entire stadium. I've barely seen any Yankee games sold out the last 3-4 years, hard to imagine NYCFC could make up over 20k seats in a matter of days. Still, 30k+ is nothing to scoff at.

We've been barely hyping our home opener. At least we didn't seem as desperate as CMSC.

I think we are going to see a pretty close to full capacity stadium on Sunday. The lower bowl will definitely be filled, but the questions is the 300 and 400 sections
