Home game vs Houston being moved to Hartford, CT

This is ludicrous.
1) The fact that there are tons of other stadiums that are closer and more easily accessible screams that the club has other motives for moving it to CT. Rather than play somewhere more convenient for fans, they decide to play a game in CT to market to potential CT fans?
2) Some people have said it's a better stadium for soccer than YS... that's great that people are looking on the bright side, but that's not the point here... Kansas City has a great soccer stadium too.. should we go play one of our home games there?
3) They're taking away one of our last remaining home games. Anytime the club does something that negatively affects the fans, it's a slap in the face and it sucks ... but when it affects the team's chances of success on the field, and in the standings, and jeopardizes playoff seating, that's just inexcusable and suggests a complete lack of giving a shit on the part of the club and owners.
4) I was a fan of the Metrostars before they became the Red Bulls... so do we just rename ourselves the Metrostars now? We play all over the tri-state area, apparently.

Just saw the Mets were home that game as well so scrap my Citi idea.
In the great irony that is the world it will downpour that day and the baseball game will be rained out and we will still all be standing there in CT

Honestly, I hope the Yankees get rained out, that'd be the ultimate irony - they fcked us and I hope a rained-out/canceled game kills their post season chances by a half-game. I have no love for that team or organization.

But I guarantee you that if the game was rained out, MLB and the Yankees would miraculously find another slot to play the game. Mark it down.

God, regardless of the result on Friday the #AskNYCFC for Vieira will be terrible.

What hotel will you stay in for your home game in Connecticut? How will you approach the travel to Connecticut for a home game? How will the field dimensions in Connecticut change your game plan for a home game?

If it gets rained out they will probably play it after the season ends only if necessary. MLB hates doing that because their post-season schedule is so regimented by TV and it messes things up they to have to squeeze in extra games, which is why they're doing this. It is what they want, and they can. Also, I bet the CBA says KC has a say. They have a very outside chance at the playoffs, but much more likely they are done when the season ends. The last thing they want is to fly to NYC on the night they were supposed to start vacation.

So here's another one - the baseball postseason schedule was posted on Twitter - obviously there would be potential conflicts if the Yankees went to the World Series.

Game 6 and Game 7 of the ALCS are Friday and Saturday before the final home game against CLB - meaning if the Yankees are in an ALCS that goes the distance, we'll have this same situation AGAIN without enough time to change the field. So your final home game of the regular season (which most likely determines seeding and a potential playoff bye) might be who knows where again. Shameful.
not a yankee/baseball fan but i'm definitely rooting against them for the remaining of the season

This is embarrassing. It's only right we all send our ticket reps and email like the one I just sent:

A very basic gesture of respect would have been to send an email to all season ticket holders with an opening line of "we regret to inform you".... and follow on sentences that contained the use of the word apologize and/or sorry. The email should have gone out before the tweet or any other leaks started rumbling. Even better if they upped it by working with supporters groups to get the email to their membership at the same time as well.

Seeing as they couldn't manage anything that respectful at a minimum in their posting they decided to distribute via twitter could have included a quote from Patricof with the phrase "we apologize to the fans."

Spot on. I'll paraphrase... they are treating fans like a commodity. CFG and NYCFC are dramatically overplaying their hands. A little respect goes a long way.

Reyna is in way over his head. Like bekham. Great soccer skills do not necessarily translate into good business acumen. How many more mishaps will it take.

"For sporting director Claudio Reyna, it was the best option to replicate a NYCFC home game. Reyna told NYCFC.com: “Pratt & Whitney Stadium is a great venue for us due to its wonderful playing surface and facilities.

“Hartford is a great soccer city which has hosted many important international games -- I played there in a couple of games for the national team many years ago – and it was always a wonderful place to play with a fantastic atmosphere and environment.

“We’re looking forward to playing there and having our fans come out and support the team in Hartford.”
