International Series

Do you think we could see some sort International Series within the MLS were their 4-5 games played in different locations in the future

With American Football the fastest growing sport in the UK and NBA having the odd one or two game in the UK aswell I can only see more interest grown for the MLS

i dont see this happening in the near future.
its different for the NBA and NFL, especially the NFL as they are basically introducing a sport to other another culture.
the NBA has the best players in the world going to play in front of people who dream of watching a star like kobe, lebron, wade, carmelo...

sending the MLS to the UK is like bringing sand to the beach. but the sand is smelly and probably has a syringe or two in there.
thats just how i see it

I don't mean to demean MLS, but I would have to agree. There would just be no attraction for attending an MLS game for British football fans - they are already accustomed to top-level football for teams from their own communities. The kinds of people going to the NFL games are the ones who liked the sport for years but never had a chance to witness a decent game, or who just attend for curiosity's sake. You won't find many of them interested in an international club football match which involves no English teams.

Good points guys, maybe I'm being optimistic but I reckon their more people who follow the MLS than they know, I wonder what the viewing figures are for sky for a game, for me after the Premier League the MLS is the league I watch the most these days

It's a fair comment to make Falastur, I think it would only work with certain teams, I could see people going watching LAG and NYCFC though as they have players who generally might interest the fans, it's your lesser teams that might struggle to generate interest at all, obviously NYCFC have a connection with City so you could see them playing in Manchester

This is purely anecdotal, but somewhat on point. I was in Newcastle last December on the night of MLS Cup 2015. It was a Sunday, so the NFL was going on. I literally walked into at least four different bars in Newcastle looking for the MLS match and couldn't find it - everything was showing the NFL.

Again, just one datapoint, but I thought it was interesting.

Well, people in Newcastle apparently hate it when you bring stuff there which they can get locally. There's a whole saying about it. Probably very different story if you had been in Leeds, Sunderland, or even Manchester or London.

You have to give it time to grow, coverage of the MLS only really started last year in the UK, ESPN (now BT Sports) used to have the rights and they would only show delayed coverage of a game and half the time it would be LA Galaxy vs ...........

Sky Sports have picked up the rights and they show one game from the east and west per week, they starting to show highlight packages as well so it's starting to grow

Also it be good to see some MLS Fan Clubs starting in the likes of the UK and Europe and around the World , give you a idea how serious it's taken across the world, just had a quick google and their isn't a NYCFC UK Fan Club at all :(

I agree in spirit but think its a little harsh.
Maybe bringing sand to a beach that is made up of small rocks instead of fine sand.
And use "Coney island whitefish" instead of syringe so people think of us as a place that practices safe sex and not a bunch of junkies

Haha. I think describing the UK as a "beach" in the first place is about as ironic as you can get, considering that our beaches are some of the smallest, coldest and dullest that you can find in the world.

lol there's all sorts of things you can use to describe it i picked a ridiculous one as usual

I'm going to start a petition to get some Italian League baseball games played in NY. That would be dope!
