Players taken today must be taken with their existing contract. Because of that most clubs will probably pass. stage 2 where clubs can renegotiate is usually much busier.

Info and list:
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ist-eligible-players-phase-one-re-entry-draft

The first stage of the Re-Entry Process – when clubs can claim players by exercising their current options or extending them a bona fide offer as stipulated by the CBA – will take place on Friday at 3 pm ET.

The results of the draft will be published on MLSsoccer.com.

Players that go unselected in the first stage will then be available for the second stage, held on Dec. 18. According to league rules, teams will have seven days to make a bona fide offer to the players they select in Stage 2 and if an agreement can't be reached, the club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS.

Any players not picked up after Stage 2 become available to any MLS club on a first-come, first-served basis.

I used the list with the costs to help illustrate my thoughts. All the players below could be useful. If these players can be talked down from their cost then NYCFC might grab them. My guess is if a player was already below $60k, NYCFC would have taken him in the first stage (they can't go much lower), so this list are the higher wage earners that might sign.

*I was going to web link them all but its taking too long. Want to know more? Click here and copy/paste the name:
http://www.mlssoccer.com/players

Patrick Ianni (Chicago Fire) - CD/RD - 150,000 - Decent CB when at Houston, but has fallen out of favor in Seattle and Chicago.
Sanna Nyassi (Chicago Fire) - F/M - 147,000 - super fast and I think has value.
Gonzalo Segares (Chicago Fire) - LD - 160,000 - decent outside back, a work horse and aggressive, Kreis kinda player
Bakary Soumare (Chicago Fire) - LCD - 330,000 - Has been a stalwart in the past but fell apart with the rest of Chicago this year; way over paid.

Marvin Chavez (Chivas USA)*** - M/F - 200,000 - decent skills and speed, older but still has something
Oswaldo Minda (Chivas USA) - DM - 150,000 - Int. - great D-mid, aggressive, could be a Beckerman like player
Martin Rivero (Chivas USA) - M - 50,004 - Int. - the diamond in the rough, could be that great Argentine playmaker that every MLS covets. Injured a lot in the last year. Risky/High reward
Nathan Sturgis (Chivas USA) - CM - 114,000

Marvell Wynne (Colorado Rapids) - CD/RD - 200,000 _-fast outside back and full back. Many MLS clubs will want him, probably not there at #19.

Adam Moffat (FC Dallas) - CM - 165,000 - hard working, getting a little slower
Hendry Thomas (FC Dallas) - DM - 180,000 - great D-mid, aggressive, could be a Beckerman like player; Kreis's friend Pareja at Dallas brought Thomas from Rapids when he moved for coaching job. Had injury problems this year and lost form/starting roll. I think he still has it.

Jeff Parke (DC United) - CD - 215,000 - veteran CB, had injury probs and lost starting position plus he costs too much

Omar Cummings (Houston Dynamo) - F/M - 250,000 -fast and reliable striker, getting older though

Mamadou "Futty" Danso (Montreal Impact) *** - CD - 87,500 - decent average CB

Stephen McCarthy (New England Revolution) *** - CD - 101,332 - young centerback who can also play midfield, project but might be worth it

Kosuke Kimura (New York Red Bulls) - CD/RD - 105,000 - reliable backup fullback

Kalif Alhassan (Portland Timbers) - CM - 120,000 - Int. - hard working, quick midfielder that got replaced by better mids at Portland. Still a decent depth guy

MagnusPax MagnusPax , when it comes to knowledge of the American game & the MLS, I have to admit your content is second to none ! Well done piece this !

Aren't you glad you unblocked me? I'm a nice guy. And seriously if you all want to be NYCFC fans you better learn the league and its players. Happy to answer anything that I can.

Oh I see I missed Sturgis above. Ultimate journeyman in MLS but decent. He played for Kreis in salt lake for a time.
