Water off a ducks back really, but I think the Victory fans are in for the same sort of shock a few people got when City started winning things. I'm a City fan mate! It'll be good to see the same thing happen in Melbourne, and to a similar extent in New York.
 
We're you surprised with the lack of a "big name" player? Koren and Duff are hardly players to win the A-League or attract a wider support. Did you expect to see a Villa/Del Piero style player?

How's Koren been doing, I haven't heard much of him.
 
Korean is out injured and has been since the start of the season, he's still to play his first game for the club. Incidentally the exact same thing happened to Heart's international marquee for the first half of last season, too.
 
Yes, its felt like a bit of curse of the int marquee. I was personally a little surprised by Koren, and yes I think most thought with the money available we'd get a big name. But Koren is a good player and importantly a team player. Its a huge shame he has been injured, I think he'd have had a great impact on the team. Hopefully we'll still get to see that
 
I saw an interesting stat in the build-up to the FFA Cup final:

There was a 33-month gap between CFG buying Manchester City and them winning their first trophy. Their first trophy was the national cup (FA Cup) and en route to the final they beat their biggest rivals (Manchester United) in the semi-finals.

There was a 34-month gap between CFG buying Melbourne City and them winning their first trophy. Their first trophy was the national cup (FFA Cup) and en route to the final they beat their biggest rivals (Melbourne Victory) in the semi-finals.

Which raises the question of what is the appropriate starting date for our clock? The CFG deal with MLS was done (at least publicly) in May 2013, but they didn't even start playing for almost 2 years from then.

I'd argue the relevant date is when we played our first match, which was St. Mirren in February 2015. 34 months from February 2015 is December 2017. What championship is available in December 2017? Yes.

MLS Cup 2017 guaranteed.

ETA: With a victory over primary rival Red Bulls in the semi-finals (aka Conference Finals) along the way, of course.
