If mix shaves his head to get into a match, then it's definitely a team preference. I hope not, because then TommyMullet and Pirlo are next!

I don't think Mendoza has ever played at CM either. He certainly wasn't last week to my eyes, but maybe the stats would prove me wrong. (Edit: Checked, and they don't)
We agree. But those guys are role players. Lopez chases games. Ballouchy is a Swiss Army Knife. Mendoza uses his pace to change games. They are one dimensional players who come into games to do one dimensional things.
Mix can't chase a game defensively like Lopez. Mix can't slot into a wing role like Ballouchy can. Mix can't use his pace to change a game.
But none of those guys are great possessive players. Mix is. So in that regard, he can help hold onto a lead, not by chasing a game defensively like Mikey (which IMO, he actually does a better job at it, he may not work as hard as Mikey, but still works hard and isn't as close to as dumb as Mikey), but by not giving the ball to the opposition and then building the counter.
After having just wanted the 100 goals youtube video that NYCFC put out, there were several games last year that we put away at the end by adding another goal off the counter. To which Mix played a large part in those buildups (Poku as well).
Anybody can do what Mikey does, but more talented players, like Mix, can do what Mikey does and MUCH more. Mikey is nothing more than a liability.
The Mix truthers are all so certain of this. I think they're probably right, but truth be told given how underwhelming he's been, and how little we've seen of him, I'm not 100% sure myself.
And if I'm not so sure, then who's to say the coach who watches him every day isn't convinced either?
And if he isn't so sure, doesn't it make all the "Mix is being hounded out" conspiracies irrelevant?
There are under appreciated players worth stomping your feet over. I'm just not convinced Mix is one of them.
Except that we have a coach that inexplicably is willing to play Hernandez at RB instead of RJ - and the same coach rates Saunders so highly that he won't give the backup a single opportunity during league play. Either what he sees in practice does not translate over to games (because Hernandez and Saunders make the same gaffes every game), or he makes decisions irrespective of the data at hand.
Also, nobody is saying Mix is the Second Coming, but we recognize that evaluating him having never played in a game situation with Jack & Iraola isn't giving him a fair shake to show he's able to be more than just "underwhelming."
What we don't know is what Vieira has asked Mix to do in training and how he has performed in those tasks. It could be that Vieira has asked Mix to play in a certain way that either 1) Mix hasn't picked up and other players have or 2) Mix isn't outperforming those other players in those tasks. He might not be an active of a runner as Lopez, or he might not control possession better than Ballouchy in the way that Vieira wants to play.
And while Mix might be an overall better all-around player than Ballouchy or Lopez, he doesn't have that specific skill that PV wants to bring on as a sub in a game, and Mix isn't talented enough to push out Lampard or Pirlo as a starter (and Mix is not the DM that Iraola is). So it's not crazy that Mix could not be above those guys.
Mix is a good player, but he's not Ronaldo in that he has to be on the field. Like any player, he needs to be in a system that plays to his strengths...and many people have said that its not clear what his strength is. Look at BWP. BWP has more goals than Giovinco, Villa, Keane...does that mean he's a better player? No, but he's in a system that is maximizing his strengths.
I get that it's frustrating, we're all watching the same games, even if we don't get to watch the training sessions. So why are people so convinced they know better than Vieira on this one specifically? I think our midfield has been alright recently.
PV watches Mix play with Jack and Iraola every day.
We actually don't know if he watches Mix play alongside them or against them in practice. All reports have pointed to Mix being on the reserve side.
And what one does in practice does not always translate to games - some players practice incredibly hard and then fall short in games (Hernandez & Saunders), while others are more reserved in practice and are complete balls-out gamers. Pressure (or lack of) affects every player differently, and whereas JH & JS fall flat with the extra pressure, Mix usually performs very well come game time.
Sounds like you've identified some pretty fundamental flaws in the entire managerial strategy of the team!

While I agree to an extent, this year two and our roster is SIGNIFICANTLY better than last season. Not all of that can be attributed to Kreis or PV.
PV has made some very clear mistakes, but has done great in other regards.
Very talented players around the world in all sports have character/attitude issues, great managers tend to know how to manage that and find a way to extract value from those players. PV has not gotten much from Mix, he could have. Now we don't know anything official about the situation so it's impossible to attribute blame to either party, but it's obviously not ideal to have a guy like Mix in the position he is in.
