The biggest difference IMO between the two is Zardes makes very, very smart runs. Shelton is horrible off the ball.

I know teams in Europe pay more but I still think he is considerably over paid even for them. Think about it this way. Mix wouldn't have come to NYCFC at $750,000 if he had higher offers in Europe. Add in that we probably overpaid due to the USMNT connection which is important in the MLS and meaningless elsewhere. Now a year plus later of poor from and sitting on the bench his value is even lower. Why would a team anywhere in the world pick up his salary?

He was able to get into Montreal for the past game. I've been to Vancouver on a cruise and didn't need my passport stamped. Maybe his is just expiring soon rather than its just expired.
