In his early season press junket, Brad talked glowingly (well, as much as Brad glows) about being sold on develop-and-sell by David. So, he's bought into the Clever Fellow scenario. You think he's bought into a mirage, eh?
I told my wife they gave me a free hat and she said "good, because you need another cap."
camera angles at YS and Citi make it notoriously difficult to determine offsides, especially if they're close. gonna have to trust the linesman on this one. even if he's ahead of risa, he might still be even/behind the ball too.
I've been told that that side, AR2 at Yankee Stadium, is the hardest one to call.

Yes, they did. All goals are reviewed, and there was a delay before restart.
On or offside debates aside, Rise needs to be hip to hip with the attacker not 4'+ to his left. Martins closed out the cross, there is no other attacker even in frame, that's Risa's guy and I suspect it was part of the calculus for benching him before half.
Oh Risa.. the CB we didn't need and who has shown that he's an average CB at best. No speed, no natural defensive positioning talent, but hey, he can ping a ball with his left foot! We'll use that a lot or maybe not. definitely worth essentially forcing out chanot at the time, who was in the middle of his best season. i get it, he was getting older and needed to go at some point, but Risa wasn't it. Yeah, I'm still Team Maxime. I'd take him on this team rather than David Lee.
Either that or they are both CFG stooges trying to put some positive spin on marching orders from the mother ship.
I still think the way Sims spun that by acting like it's old stars or this development BS with nothing in the middle was ridiculous.
Brad sits on the CFG board along with Marty. So, I don't think he's a stooge. He's in the room where it happens.
This interview is a great window into his mindset. And I like it. My big question is, how does it translate to the product on the field? Because no matter how much we do in all the other areas of franchise building, if we suck out there, it's just smoke.
I've chatted with Brad before, and he's a very intelligent and charismatic guy. I have no issues with him. I think our stadium will be top notch.
Perhaps we are dragged down by the stadium expenditures, and that seems to be my best guess as to why our player acquisition process has been so shit lately. That, and David Lee is no Brad Sims.
I like Brad, too. Every interview I read or see tells me he's a sharp, capable businessperson.
That last part (about Lee) is the big question. On the one hand, I totally understand the acquisition philosophy, and I'm personally willing to be patient and see what we can do in the summer window when the European talent comes free, even though at the moment it totally sucks moose balls.
But it's impossible to argue with those who have said our roster is much weaker now than it was at this point in 2022. And I'll go further and join the choir: we flipped the table over at that point specifically to rebuild in this model, and that meant we were in for some suffering, but we should be better than we are right now, or at least deeper.
Which might account for the (possibly extreme) caution David is exercising. We have the GAM and the slots. He must get it right. Screw this up and waste those resources and the next sporting director will have one hell of a time unscrewing it before 2027.
