MLS - June 29 - Cincinnati (Away)

I think once you get one blood clot like that it is more likely to happen again. It’s troubling.

Disappointing game. Enthralling game. Lackluster game.
A sample of what we were doing week in and week out to start the season.
It’ll be tough getting back to consistent winning ways with some key missing pieces.

I'm trying to look on the bright side: once our Starting XI is intact again, fit and in form, we're going to have one hell of a bench to call on.

They're hungry, too. Once he got over his jitters Haak was really good. Jasson might have won us the game if anyone was looking for him on the right side. Tayvon Gray defended his ass off. Pereira was fearless.

To come out so strong, fall apart, then pull it together again and stay competitive the rest of the night in such a crazy match -- that was a good sign.

Is Tinnerholm back in Sweden or is his wife here? Wondering if there's any chance he's here Sunday?

What a roller coaster of emotions. Glad I stuck with it I'd often have changed the channel in disgust at 3-0.

Hopefully Heber is back whether Tatty leaves or not we can use him.

Hope they go out and look for someone in the mid presuming Parks is out for the year.

Yeah there were definitely some glimmers of hope for the future amidst the disappointment-- Heber finally rounding into form, some youngsters putting in shifts and learning how to hang in and mount a comeback; glimpses of the fluid attack and nifty movement on and off the ball; great saves by SJ after some shaky play first half and last game.... all without Taty, Parks, Tinnerholm, Santi, Martins, and Chanot.

Except for that time Haak gave away the ball inside the 6 and almost lost the game. He had some good tackles and clearances but he looked lost off the ball for most of the match. I expect he will improve rapidly with minutes as our other academy kids have.

But I agree that they showed a lot of resilience.

Hoping that's the kind of game that galvanizes a group around its new coach. The way they fought back, even though they didn't get all 3 points, is a very good sign I hope. They've been pretty lackluster so far under Cushing, but even though they were awful defensively tonight, maybe this is the start of something.

I really never want to see Alfredo Morales as a CB again. Let's take that experiment and throw it in the trash. Hopefully Chanot is OK, that looked gnarly.

I think they are in the NY Metro area. With baby Tinnerholm coming on game day, an obvious exclusion from the roster.

Regarding Taty, I asked Cushing postgame about the reports of Taty not traveling due to being ill and the fact that he wasn't included on the injury report. Cushing noted that Taty was ill on Tuesday but the thought was maybe he would feel better on Wednesday and travel separately in the morning.

I have several thoughts on that:
  • To my knowledge (and I for sure could be well wrong on this), no NYCFC player in history has traveled separately from the club aside from national team duties
  • The injury report was released at 11am this morning. Hardly any time for him to "travel this morning" to Cincinnati
  • Consideration of transfer rumors. There haven't seem to have been a whole lot lately, but the club has often done a great job at keeping lips sealed when transfers occur both in and out.

Imagine being so excited to be offside that you take off your shirt and get a yellow card.
He was so offsides too. I understand getting caught up in the moment, but where he was, he has to at least understand that there was a damn good chance he was offsides.
Pretty sure the rule is "shirt off when celebrating a goal." So if the goal is disallowed, should not the yellow also be rescinded? Is it still a goal celebration if there's no goal?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
