MLS - June 29 - Cincinnati (Away)

Pretty sure the rule is "shirt off when celebrating a goal." So if the goal is disallowed, should not the yellow also be rescinded? Is it still a goal celebration if there's no goal?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

eyyy someone's picked up my shrug lingo~ yayayayayayay

I believe removing a shirt for any reason other than medical or equipment issue is a yellow. The speculation elsewhere was not that the lack of a goal changed it but that the reversal meant that both the goal and what followed it never happened.

I think they are in the NY Metro area. With baby Tinnerholm coming on game day, an obvious exclusion from the roster.

Regarding Taty, I asked Cushing postgame about the reports of Taty not traveling due to being ill and the fact that he wasn't included on the injury report. Cushing noted that Taty was ill on Tuesday but the thought was maybe he would feel better on Wednesday and travel separately in the morning.

I have several thoughts on that:
  • To my knowledge (and I for sure could be well wrong on this), no NYCFC player in history has traveled separately from the club aside from national team duties
  • The injury report was released at 11am this morning. Hardly any time for him to "travel this morning" to Cincinnati
  • Consideration of transfer rumors. There haven't seem to have been a whole lot lately, but the club has often done a great job at keeping lips sealed when transfers occur both in and out.

The public injury report is almost always not true and there is almost always another player or two that are unavailable for the game. Do other teams play games with the injury report the way we do? It should basically be ignored at this point.

I’m on vacation. Didn’t see the game except for scattered highlights and I read the thread.
If not for Reddit I would not know that Maxi took and missed another PK. How is that not a major source of complaints and angst here!?
On the other hand, more than half of r/NYCFC wanted to fire Cushing after 30 minutes lol.

I think we got most of our complaining about Maxi taking the PK done in the chat box? :D Then we kind of got distracted by everything that came after.

Cincy is a good team. We played our B team. We played a midfielder at CB.

The calling for Cushing’s head by our fanbase is pathetic. Has our FO not earned the benefit of the doubt at this point?
COVID has caused people to forget how to behave in public. Are we overreacting, yes. Do we have championship expectations, yes.

Cincy fans seemed very upset at the end of the game - apparently didn't like the refereeing. Not sure what the complaint was. Other than the early goal canceled because the ball was called out, it seemed reasonably evenly called, and that one was hardly clear.

I know they were also upset by our injuries and potential time wasting, and I am sympathetic about that.

On Reddit they were obsessed with endline corner/goal kick calls.

So, maybe that early overturn of a goal had them scrutinizing the same thing all game long.

Kind of a strange thing to get that angry about.

Anyone else think there might have been a handball on their 2nd goal or a foul on the turnover before their 4th?
