That was such a typical Atlanta fashioned loss.
I'd love to see him in a 4-4-2 with Wood playing under him.First, that was nuts. All around, super-MLSy.
Second, what would we do if we needed a 4th keeper? Would I finally get my chance? (ETA: I think ATL, an expansion team, may have a better #4 than our #2, btw. I also don’t know that our #3 isn’t better than our #2.)
Finally, we herald many guys from Atlanta, but Christian Ramirez is a damn good player. He’s a little bit of Larin and Dwyer combined. I would like to see him get a chance with the nats. He’s smart, industrious and has serious poacher instincts.
Zusi will play forward for the NT before Ramirez does. Finally, we herald many guys from Atlanta, but Christian Ramirez is a damn good player. He’s a little bit of Larin and Dwyer combined. I would like to see him get a chance with the nats. He’s smart, industrious and has serious poacher instincts.
With Zardes next to him. Shame we don't have 5 of each. Full team of Killer Z's.Zusi will play forward for the NT before Ramirez does.
For some reason, this doesn't surprise me.The condensed replay of the Atlanta Minnesota game does not include Minnesota's second goal.
So we can possibly clinch 2nd with our next game and rest players for almost two weeks with our last game being meaningless.. chances we roll out a PV tinkering lineup and play like a team eliminated?
I am just catching up on this game after having been out watching baseball last night. A terrific result for us - quite a surprise, and all credit to Minnesota who have completely turned things around this year.
I do wonder about that Red Card on Atlanta. I am not 100% sure it should have been DOGSO. Yes, the goalie takes the player down, but the defender was only a step or two behind. Given the sideways nature of the touch, one can argue that the defender would have been in position to defend the Minnesota player or clear any shot by that player had the goalie not taken him down.
Another interesting thought. One question was where the foul had occurred. If it had happened 2 feet farther upfield, it would have been in the box and a penalty. But, it also wouldn't have been DOGSO, since the keeper was making a play on the ball.
And one more. To the degree it was a close call, it can't have helped that Atlanta fans pelted the referee before he conducted the video review. A big rookie mistake by those guys.
And finally. If the referee had not awarded the red, he couldn't have changed anything on the play since potential fouls and yellow cards are not reviewable. That video review could only have been to look at whether it was a red or a penalty.
It’s a red card every day of the year for violent play. Outside of the box by the goalkeeper taking the player out with no ball contact. Had nothing to do with DOGSO.I am just catching up on this game after having been out watching baseball last night. I’ll take either independently as sufficient to support the call. But yeah, I don’t know how you come close to saying it wasn’t a red. It’s a red card every day of the year for violent play. While the GK is protected in the box, he’s like every other player outside of it. He was late to the challenge, not even close to the ball, and he cleaned the player out on the shin - completely went through the player with the force of his body, not a swiping kick where only leg strength plays a role. His actions were definitely violent play.Violent play??? Really? No studs showing. He just missed the ball because the player tapped it sideways. People miss tackles like that all the time. Yellow, yes, but not a red - at least not for that.
