NYCFC is 80% owned by City Football Group, 20% owned by New York Yankees.
YES Network is 80% owned by 21st Century FOX, 20% owned by New York Yankees.

Hence, no surprise that:
  1. Yankee Stadium is the "temporary" home of NYCFC.
  2. YES Network is the television home of NYCFC.
In fact, YES had been televising re-air of Manchester City matches for a while, no?
  3. FOX Sports GO is the streaming home of NYCFC.
Now, as to why Yankee studio shows have precedence over NYCFC and NETS events,
I have no idea.

As I made mention in the Shout box during the game last night: Do you know when NYCFC is going to take precedence over the Yankees on YES? The 5th of Never.

Some people really need to get a grip on reality sometimes.
I don't think anyone expects NYCFC to ever take precedence over the Yankees.... All we expect is that NYCFC takes the proper steps to ensure that the games are READILY available for viewing by their fans!!!!! I don't think that is too much to ask......

The only way NYCFC would become bigger than the Yankees if is the following situation happens:
1. MLS becomes a more profitable league than MLB
2. The market value of NYCFC becomes more than the Yankees
3. NYCFC wins the World Cup in the US

The World Cup final between City Football Group and The Rest Of The World will be joined in progress as soon as we finish up with this monsoon delay between the New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins, 0-0 in the top of the 4th with two outs.

Straw man much? Get a second channel and make the stream widely available and not just for select cable providers, at least for preempted games. It's easy to be superior to people who don't exist.

And what were they to do? It wasn't anybody's fault as to what happened last night; it was just bad circumstances.

It's Major League SOCCER and there isn't a network in this country that's going to do backflips to make sure soccer games are televised when something goes wrong like last night.

And as for not having a back up plan? Um, they did. I watched the entire match on Fox Go. People don't have Comcast or TWC? That's a shame, but that's the best you were going to get. To expect anything better is just fooling yourselves.

On Verizon FIOS, my supplier, FOX Sports GO is not available. Only FOX and FIOS know why.
YES2 camps out on the Verizon news channel, FIOS1. So, YES would need advance clearance.

As soon as NYCFC and YES realized there was going to be a conflict, they should have cleared the blackout from MLS Live and streamed it there as well as FOX Sports GO. Plus, there's no earthly reason why Jack Curry and Bob Whatever to be droning on incessantly when there's NO baseball game being actively played.

It was just a piss poor performance all the way around.

Nice comeback.

Cue Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrass.

For what it's worth, YES *HAS* a second network, called YES2 (On some providors... YES2 content also plays on TWCSportsnet or whatever). Remember the Toronto game earlier this season that aired on Yes2? It's the one they cut away from with 3 minutes left in the game to High School Lacrosse and then cut back to the post-game in time to see someone (Gio?) take a swing at one of our players.

That's what doesn't make sense. YES2 is a network. Sometimes the Yankees use it to show Nets games... the Nets aren't playing right now, so who else is using it?

YES2 is a network.
Actually, it isn't. It's an overflow service.
Different cable services handle it in different ways.

MSG2 is a network. It has programming whether there is an event or not.
YES2 doesn't broadcast unless there's a "planned" overlapping event.
That's the difference.

I find it amazing that a sports franchise in NYC , can't be easily seen by all of its fans on whatever cable provider they have. With all due respect to fox sports go and streaming the games, being able to watch your team play on tv shouldn't be this difficult.

Completely agree with this. The match was not locally televised, so they should have lifted the blackout.
