I just watched Arena's post game presser... lol. the guy couldnt just answer questions like a professional. it was just snarky remarks and basically just letting the reporters answer their own questions. he's obviously upset with the red card. he didn't mention anything about the PK and not sure anybody can really say it wasn't one. I think the red was soft because it wasn't given for the violent foul, but for dogso. taty wasn't exactly in on goal... so that red probably should have stayed a yellow. that being said, the ref was completely all over the place today and the major calls that influenced the game just happened to go in our favor. i'll take it ... considering we've been screwed so often by refs in this league.

overall - MLS refs have got to be the worst in the world. I swear there are youth or rec league refs who are better.

The Good Behavior Incentive can be used 3 times during the season. We need to get this viral if we're right and Maxi should not be suspended.

If anyone would have said in April that Jesus Medina was going to score a brace in the last 25 minutes of a match that would move NYCFC into first place in September who in their right mind would have believed that?
We should definitely feel good today about what this team has accomplished so far this season. Enjoy it even.
There's plenty of possible analysis , but I'm going to enjoy 1st place as long as we are holding that position.

Correct me if I’m wrong here but I’m pretty sure that it’s only called if the encroaching player has an effect on the end result of the penalty.

I’ll double check my list tomorrow when I update. But pretty sure it’s accurate bc i double checked last time I gave a yellow to the wrong player. And have been extra careful since.

Someone probably thought that the consecutive appearances for Good Behavior Reduction must be starts. His 2nd reduction (i.e. the 5th clean game) was when he was subbed on vs. Houston in the 78th minute.

I checked and rechecked all the matches and his player profile. Some intern over at MLS must not be counting his 12 minute substitute appearance as part of the streak of 5 clean matches for his 2nd good behavior reduction. You think this would ever happen in the NFL? NBA? NHL? MLB?

Tyler Miller was a beast. Keaton was everywhere when someone was looking for an outlet. Tinner found more space than anyone had any right to. Maxi loves his 15 yard chips behind the D -- it'll probably win us a playoff game at some point. Mitri is rounding into form, he just needs to pull the trigger more quickly squared to goal. Stuver played well, but didn't have to do much. He seems like a great "clubnouse guy". Medina's left foot is the only part of the player worth much.

Totally thought this on both goals.

This is NOT a critique of him. For all the criticism he's taken I don't blame him throwing a bit of shade.

LOL no, every time I'm at ahome game sitting near people i've never seen before, they're always like "Anything but medina"... so I think it's a sentiment held by a lot of people.

Look. if he can prove us wrong going into the post-season, I won't complain. He's got the potential. If he shows it, I have no problem starting him!

indeed. i don't think anyone can deny that last year, when we saw Taty in the starting XI, we all rolled our eyes thinking he gave us nothing. look at what he's been able to achieve with hard work and time. Medina has the potential but he needs to show it. He worked harder today than I"ve seen him work in a long time and the results spoke for themselves. It's clear in the highlight reel that he busted his ass to get in position to finish the first goal and to do so with such finesse is really quite impressive.

I hope he continues with this attitude no matter what his motivation may be. i'd love for every single one of our guys to be in tip top form from Heber down to Miller. It's the only way we're going to win the cup - with a full squad, everyone hungry, and everyone wanting to make their mark on the field.

based on my understanding, encroachment does not have to do with effecting the end result. according to the laws of the game, encroachment by an attacking player when the kick results in a goal should result in a re-take. whether or not this is enforced is up to the referee. in this case, mitri and taty both encroach and this crappy ref didn't make him retake though he would have been within his rights to do so.

As an aside, all the other MLS matches today are on ESPN+. Was ours not? I would have watched there instead to escape the barrel-bottom commentating and Univision's penchant for showing long replays while the fucking ball is in play.

It was not because Univision is a national TV broadcast, so they are the only broadcast allowed. They are unimaginably bad both with the commentators and the production quality. MLS really needs to ditch them. It's so bad.

As for the game -- Mitrita was super dangerous today even if he didn't score. More performances like that from him, please.

So happy for Medina. That was his first brace for us. I love watching guys who get doubted have big games. We needed it.

I really hope Maxi isn't suspended on Wednesday -- who the hell knows at this point. Because if he is, I really don't know who we put at the 10. Mitrita? Medina? I don't think you put Parks there, and I certainly don't think Ring should go there. Interesting decision for Dome if he needs to make it.
