New England - Postmatch

Baby shark.

Did you mistake this for the stadium thread?

Replace Baby Shark with Ismael
Replace Mommy Shark with Tajouri
Replace Daddy Shark with Shradi
Replace Gradman Shark with Tajouri
Replace Grandpa Shark with Shradi
Replace Let's Go Hunt with Let's Score Goals
Replace Run Away with NYC
Replace Safe At Last with FC

And it's quite catchy...

I wouldn't lump them in together in anyway. SAS has shown two games in a row that he can find space pick his head up and place a cross to a teammate in a legit scoring position. SAS also plays within himself, makes quick decisive decisions, times his overlaps well and doesn't loose the ball trying to dribble through 3 people. Sweat on the other hand repeatedly launches crosses into the box with no plan or target at all. The majority of Sweat's crosses sail clear over the box or into the goalies hands. I thought Sweat was completely exposed today, he is not a starter in this league. To add to his abysmal play he also seems like a total prick, I've never seen a player be as quick as Sweat is to scream at and blame his teammates for things that are clearly his own mistakes.
Yep. Wish I’d have seen this before replying myself.
I just cant rate Sweat. I am very much less impressed than almost everyone else.

Looks like CLB is about to catch us in the standings. And NJ is winning at home too and they have a game in hand. We might have 10 points in 4 matches, but we also need to keep winning. Next week we fly to a well rested San Jose. While CLB hosts Vancouver and NJ gets to take on the dumpster fire called Orlando. Let’s keep that that foot on the gas.

Maxi's been the focal point of our offense so far this season, and if you need any confirmation of that look at how toothless we looked when Maxi wasn't getting service. Ofori seems to be a good player, but he's no Alex Ring. That guy is the most important player on the roster.

If you can’t admit he’s typically very good going forward, then you’re just trolling and sinking your other opinions that have real merit.
I think he has contributed to some good outcomes going forward.

I also think RJ Allen has played the best pass in the history of the club.

Point being, I don’t always equate positive outcomes to overall positive performances.

Don't forget about those great saves Saunders made.

I sorta disagree with everything except for the prick thing, which unfortunately I agree with wholeheartedly. And yeah, Saad seems like a super nice guy, so in that respect they are very different.

I agree that Sweat had a bit of a 'mare today (hmm, and his competition for the spot just got injured), but he has generally been decently productive. He could have had a goal to go with his assist against KC, and had 6 assists last year.

Defensively, I feel like they are both prone to disastrous lapses in concentration. A couple of Saad moments that stand out to me:
  • Switching off against Penilla for the cross that led to the second goal.
  • Fouling Fagundez needlessly near the end 90th minute in a dangerous area.
Luckily we have Tinnerholm on the right. Unfortunately nobody on the left to push Sweat to clean up his game.

He didn’t switch off there. He knew he couldn’t mark him tight and not foul or get burned. Very different.

He closed the angle. Johnson and Callens both could have done better. And that’s still ignoring the original mistake (on the ref for me) where we gave it away again coming out.

ETA: none of that is to say SAS was perfect. But he was nowhere near Sweat bad. Not will he ever be. He’s just better than Sweat.

That pass in Portland might be my favorite goal this team has ever scored -- so damn pretty, and I still have absolutely no idea how he curled that thing in there like that.

That's annoying. The East is looking like a minefield again this year.

By the way -- at one point in this game I think fouls were 10-1 or 11-1 about 20 minutes in, YES had the graphic, and it was something absurd like that. How does the ref keep his cards in his pocket? Can't he start giving out yellows for teamwide persistent infringement?
