That was a guess I had as well, and came to the same "too easy" conclusion. We also have travel jackets and warm-up jackets, and do teams really switch into these just for the anthem? Further, non-US clubs have them, call them anthem jackets, and most sports leagues outside the US do not play their national anthem before sporting events. It also seems to be just a soccer thing.

Anthem doesn't always have to be national, some leagues/ cups have a tune or "anthem" that plays when the players walk out, re: Champions League. Name probably came just based off of international play as you and Christopher Jee presumed and made its way to domestic leagues. With the anthem jacket wearing, you do only see those worn when the players walk out. Haven't seen them used for bus/plane trips or practice when it's cold. I could be wrong, but that's my quick opinion based off of what I've seen.

I don't know if this has been stated anywhere, but anyone else noticing the authentics are a bit looser this year? This feels more true to size than years past. I'm a medium (smedium, really), and typically get the Large. Got the L this year and it feels like an authentic sized L. Also fairly long.

Yes. Same. I had posted this in the jersey thread pre lock. As a footnote, I since have measured the authentic short-sleeved hypnokit against the authentic new kit in a size down and they are actually almost identical (in fact the size down is slightly longer). So this year’s kit seems to fit like a full size up from last year’s. Big difference.

Just received the anthem jacket. As I believe Goodfella mentioned with the hoodie, it’s a completely different material this run, buttery soft and better quality. It looks great live.

I ordered the travel jacket after seeing it in person last weekend. First non jersey, t shirt apparel I've ordered. It looks great enough (and subtle enough) to wear out.
