Sure, but where are they going after the academy? We're not retaining our talent. Where is the movement on signing Gray (or that academy player that was "mistakenly" on the MLSPU salary guide)?
I am all for signing our talent because our goal is to make money off our talent. If they get signed out of our academy, we get nothing, correct? We need to sign them and continue to develop them and hopefully sell them for big bucks or utilize them for success in the league. Reyna should have never gotten away without signing for the club as a homegrown first. that was a big mistake and one that probably was engineered by claudio to reduce any obstacles for his son to go to europe.

We had three homegrowns on the roster this season from an academy so young that everyone who's ever played there is U19. One of them was an MLS starter at 18 years old. The first team will almost certainly sign another homegrown or two this offseason. Let's maybe not panic about the "after the academy" part yet.
I know we've had two kids that have now gone elsewhere, with one of them never realistically going to stay here to begin with. Have I missed anyone else?
MLS/USSoccer joined the rest of the world and NYCFC gets a development fee if an Academy player is signed to another Club.
I feel confident saying we’ll have 3 more HGs join us by next summer.

Scally played fairly well. Gio came on the field and made some impact but not enough to get 3 points. The team looked disorganized and ragged against Japan and could barely get out of their half in the 2nd half. I hope they get it together cause the way they're playing now, even if they make it out of the group, they're gonna get knocked out right away.
Jasson took a shot that forced a save that lead to a goal, which was called back for offside. USA is currently 5th of the teams in 3rd in their groups, with the top 4 3rd place finishers advancing. Game against the Netherlands is their easiest (no wins, -5 GD), so win and likely in.

Don't wanna be that guy but why are we still posting Gio news? He's moved on. Maybe we should. I keep on opening the thread thinking it's info about players still with us. I guess that's on me.
Interesting test case. Will we still track Sands when he’s playing for Schalke?
Some of us are interested in him like we’re interested in former first-team players. But we don’t have a player thread like for Angelino or Mendoza or whoever because he never made it to the first team. I guess we could create a former academy player thread for the ones that got away. Probably could do a single thread rather than separate ones for different players.
