NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2018

If it means f* the blackout stuff, then yes. But idk if youtubeTV for LAFC or this DC deal will still have the blackouts apply?

The DC deal is only for local rights -- you'd still have to be in the DC area to watch it. Local blackout rules still apply, same with LAFC.

Don't think the best answer for this club to moving away from YES is going to a place you have to pay to watch. That would be worse than YES.
Do people favor a DC-type streaming-only separate subscription model?

ETA: the post that snuck in just ahead of me says emphatically "no."

All i know is i enjoy watching my team’s games live. And when they are constantly shown on delay becuase of a yankee game (or worse a yankee post-game show), I prefer any alternative. And I’m sure the general population would as well at those moments, as the other option is no game broadcast at all.

Additionally, it's not like we're getting quality production from YES. They don't even broadcast from away matches! There's little if any pregame or postgame coverage. I'd take anything over YES at this point.

IDK. I think the core group of committed fans would take the deal of paying a fee in return for no pre-emptions -- not unanimously, but a high percentage. I also think it would cut down on the fans with moderate interest, and eliminate the folks who turn it on because nothing else is on, or maybe they saw a promo or an article and want to check it out.

DC united is going to flo sports apparently its service is trash....so maybe it will be the same as not having a game broadcast at all. i rather get the occasional delayed game in YES. the other option would be something like hulu, amazon or something that already has other stuff in it then it makes sense but not this DC deal

This would be the main concern for me as well.

For me individually, I'd love a pay service that I could completely count on and not have to deal with any potential blackouts or not being able to watch live.

But I think moving away from YES, which is shown in a TON of NY Metro area bars, is losing potential eyeballs from those with moderate to little interest that could maybe give enough intrigue to go to one game.
