It's a backup who can create competition. He can't ask for much more if he wants to make similar money. He'll get cup matches and have a chance to overtake Valdes, which could very well happen given Ulrich point.

The Americans backstopped (GK) the Allies by supplying the front via the North Atlantic convoys and then swept around the flanks (wingback - RJ) through Africa and Italy and attacked behind the beachhead defenses with the Airborne (wings - TMac).

Yeah, he seems like he would be great in the Iraola spot, not that we are hurting for an upgrade there other than Iraola getting older. Iraola could rotate in for Pirlo and Schweinsteiger to keep them all fresh, and back up right back. Then add Orlando Barrio on a free from Athletico National:
F: Barrio, Villa, Harrison; (Shelton, Taylor)
M: Pirlo, McNamara, Schweinsteiger; (Lopez, Iraola)
D: Matarrita, Chanot, Brillant, Allen; (Martinez, Mena, Iraola)
Shed Lampard, Mix, and Hernandez. Let Mendoza's and Bravo's loans expire. Also upgrade keeper and that CAM/CM backup spot that Lopez is penciled into right now.
I love Lampard's goal scoring ability from the midfield, but this setup would put all our goal scorers up front and keep a more formidable midfield shape that will help with possession and on defense.
