He was a substitute for Toronto and he wants to explore free agency to get PAID. He doesn't deserve what he's looking for and spending that much on him by us would be nuts.
Also, as mentioned before, he's not the nicest of player.
I was going to say asshole. But yeah, Will Johnson is an asshole/douche.
He's the Canadian Christian Laettner of MLS. I have never liked him, nor understood his purpose other than being a higher paid, slightly higher functioning version of Mikey Lopez.
Not to us. Just un-protected. I expect he'll be taken by MNU, unless ATL or MNU snatches Oduro first.
Oduro is a free agent though, so even though he's "unprotected," I don't think there's any rights to the player that could be drafted in the expansion draft anyway.
We don't have anything to trade, do we? To me, he's a more athletic TMac.
I've always like Oduro, I think he'd be an incredible threat with Pirlo launching long passes from midfield.
Agree. I like him, as well, if he's a 3rd option like in MTL. In case I wasn't clear, I was comparing Shipp & TMac.
We have a mysterious amount of GAM and TAM to trade.
Good shout by Tom in Fairfield CT in that Oduro would work here in that regard - but is he anything more than a more expensive Shelton on this squad?
I think he's a far better player than Shelton. No way in hell he would get along with PV, though.
I agree. Which unfortunately isn't saying much. They have the same physical tools, but Shelton's touch is alarmingly worse than even Oduro.
Oduro's game might be slightly more evolved but he's also 31, considerably shorter, and isn't known as a great locker room guy. At this point Oduro is locked in as a 1 dimensional player that uses his speed to beat people over the top. I'd keep Shelton at 23 years old just based on upside without a second thought.
