NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Let's go big, why not go after a young European player? So many of these players between 18 and 21 can't find a starting spot in a top league (Facey) because they don't have the experience or sometimes because of work papers.

We should capitalize on this and poach young talent, there's so many good young players out there.

Luka Jovic of Red Star Belgrade
Ryan Gauld of Sporting Lisbon
Richario Zivkovic of Ajax
Ante Coric of Dinamo Zagreb
Keita Balde Diao of Lazio

all of these players can likely be had and inserted into our starting lineup. How many of these players wouldn't jump at the chance to learn from Pirlo, Lampard and Villa? Mention links to MCFC and there's no reason we can't sign any of them. CFG can handle any transfer fees, their salary won't be too high since they're all young.

Alright, get it sorted City.

awesome idea...all for it...lets make it happen. They will be like Angelino, initially may cause us some games but eventually they will be worth millions and form the core of this club. maybe some of them are even willing to become US citizens to play for the USMNT.

I honestly don't know any of those players, but I agree in principle with what you're getting at.

My question is would any of those guys be available during the January transfer window? I think for the most part it's been proven the July window is a disaster.

Bigger problem is fitting in all those non-Americans when we are already out of international slots.

Even if they shed Calle, Alvarez... Johannnsen(?)... that's only 3 spots. And remember we traded for at least 2 of our current spots and those will return to their owner in '16.

Very good point, but also, don't forget we have already freed a spot up with Nemec leaving. So if we shed those 3, we would be at a net gain of 2 additional spots (with the 2 traded-for spots returning to their teams).

Ron Vlaar had knee surgery this summer isn't supposed to be out too long but he doesn't currently have a club he let his contract expire this summer. I doubt we could afford him but maybe he wants to come to America and maybe we could use TAM on him.

Do we alla gree that probably half the roster should be dropped, freeing up almost $1 Million in Cap Space? But despite that, we're all going to be dissapointed?

There will be multiple people on the roster in 2016 who the majority of posters would have dropped, sure. But the forum runs on disappointment and anger, so everyone wins.

Angelino is gone after this year. I think we keep Facey if we want him.
Disappointing if your prediction is correct. I was looking forward to seeing a full season of Angelino. Exciting to watch a young talent like him.

Kruse has publicly commented that he would lobby the lords across the pond to keep Facey and Angelino. Angelino is still technically one of the best we have. He just needs to learn how to form a line with the rest of the backs to keep opponents at bay.

It would be great to see both play, but there are three parties who have to be in agreement here: NYCFC, MCFC and also the players themselves. If any one of the three gets cold feet then it won't happen, so it's partly about whether they want to stay or not. I can see Facey staying, but I have a suspicion Angelino will want to move back to a European league - he strikes me as the sort of player who reckons he can be a star, and will want to be pressing to play in the top leagues.

Obviously for NYCFC's sake I hope he stays, but we'll see. Youngsters can be very precocious at the age when they start breaking through.

The best thing for Angelino would be to be loaned out to a Championship side and get beaten up next year.
