NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

CDM Kean Bryan

This is Vieira's current team captain for the MCFC U21's. Just turned 19. Probably ready for a first team loan. Well known by Vieira. Fills a glaring hole on our roster. Does it for cheap.

Vieira would love to park his boy next to Pirlo and learn from him for a year while playing in a men's league.

He basically plays Vieira's position and is the captain of Vieira's old EDS team? Something is really wrong if he doesn't come here.

Let me see, what would you choose...a loan to Nottingham Forest or some other lower league club or the chance to play next to Andrea Effing Pirlo??

Senderos is only 30. If we can get him for 300Kish with some backdoor Etihad stock, I'd be willing to give it a try. One worry though, is he made of glass?

No problem, we have an entire year's experience dealing with players made of glass.... as long as Senderos isn't prone to hamstring injuries he should be considered.

How about playing alongside Kwadwo "This guy fucks" Poku?

By physical, I don't mean battling on a corner. I mean teams (Dallas for example) just playing balls into space and having Castillo or Ulloa footrace our defenders for 90 mins.
Good point. But against a good team, that tactic is not supposed to work. If we can keep possession, you will minimize their attacking chances and create more scoring opportunities. It's only when we can't win the skill race then the foot race becomes important.

The Seattle Sounders could be making some major changes in the offseason, and one of those may involve midfielder Osvaldo Alonso. I’m hearing Seattle is actively shopping Alonso for a trade around MLS. The Cuban émigré has been one of MLS’s best defensive midfielders in recent years, but he’s now 30 and has been injured during the last two postseasons. Alonso has two years left on a guaranteed contract that pays him nearly $800,000 a year, per the MLS Players Union.

Would be nearly impossible to have both Alonso and Mix on the roster at the same time, given their salaries. But Alonso would look perfect as our CDM.

Alonso would be great, but we already have 3 DPs and TAM guy. I know he is a evil former Kreis player, but Will Johnson has been made surplus to requirements at Portland, maybe we should make a run for him. Affordable, under 30 and can play CDM.

I don't think he is that good he is the same as Jacobson, though with the new tam we can use part of it to buy down Mix affect on the cap

I'm sorry but this is wrong. Osvaldo Alonso is one of the best CDM in MLS, far superior to AJ, who isn't even really a DM. Alonso would be a huge upgrade but I don't see us affording him, unless Seattle split his costs with us.

Or he takes a discount either way

Mix is regular AM (RAM?), no? TAM didn't exist until after he was signed.

Isn't WJ making like 300ish K?

I would love to see Kean come to New York for 2 seasons. For me he has everything to be a top class player.

His best position is midfield, but he has played at centre half and left back as well. He would learn so much playing with Pirlo.

He will be TAM in 2016, plus I thought there was a quote in this thread about Kreis saying they used TAM on Mix before they knew what TAM was.
I can totally believe that all of the teams knew TAM was coming this year (not just the owners footing the bill), and while it hadn't been officially unveiled the other clubs weren't going to get in the way of NYCFC using it before the unveiling on a returning MNT player like Mix. So I have a hard time believing that NYCFC & Kreis didn't understand the newest Cap Rule and what the ramifications of it's use would be. However IF, and it's a big IF.... but IF Kreis used TAM on Mix without knowing what it was or how the rules apply to it, then that's just one more mark against his usefulness as an MLS insider.

I realize the most popular thing on this forum now is to blame everything on Kreis, and I'm sure we'll get tons of mileage over blaming him for years, but in this I was merely saying they used TAM before THEY KNEW IT WAS CALLED TAM. But feel free to just blame Kreis because he's an idiot who is clueless and had it out for poor CFG & their NY franchise from the start.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth. Never did I say Kreis had it out for CFG. But I do find it hard to believe they used a cap rule without knowing what it was called.
