Hard Pass on this player , let's bring a real star to this team someone that will get the fans base excited and put fans in seats , a player like Vela or Matinez that will be impactful on the field.
martinez was not someone people knew though, it was until he started scoring that people got excited for him. Vela was different story though. plus i dont think this dude was gonna be a DP
fuck him, dude should be getting yellows and red much more often.
Anyone who watched even a little bit of Serie A knew exactly who Josef was. He showed great potential because he was generally the fastest guy on the pitch. He definitely wasn't the goal scorer he is today but he showed quality.
but at torino? based online stuff he scored less tan 10 goals in a span of like three years. the numbers were not flattering though. being fast is not indicative of being successful though. like i said once he scored here is when he became big.
if we signed someone with 50 plus games and less than 10 goals as a striker, more than half of the fanbase would be losing their shit.
Judging by that player's transfermarket page, I think he'd be a TAM guy, not a DP-level player.
Not trying to be a funny guy, but I knew his potential in MLS. Sometimes stats don't show a full picture.

i always try to take the lets wait and see approach. i recall maxi got massive shit after first year for not producing in year one. my rule is always that any player arriving in MLS needs one year to adapt, josef/almiron didnt need that but barco/pity did and the dude had the tape and hype and i think numbers to back him make him impact player as soon as he landed.
heber, when he was signed people still questioned he signing ( primarily as it was late)as the dude had injuries and also played a different position in previous teams.
my point was that while a serie a follower like you may see the potential/skill the general public in MLS didnt know who he was. the name was not going to put butt in seats on name alone like say a vela. its his performances in first couple of weeks that pushed his stock in the league and eventually put butts in seats.

Who knows whether there is any merit to this rumor, but this would only be a mid-priced signing. I think that we need to replenish the winger and striker depth given the schedule glut this season, and some likely/possible sales (like Taty). I actually think that signing a Heber-like clone also is key, whether it's a similar TAM (or even a DP) deal. We were so much more dangerous with a true finisher like Heber playing. But I suspect that one of the reasons why Heber is playing for us rather than a top-tier team is because he is so fragile. I don't think that will suddenly improve, so I only expect intermittent play from him. Get another.
I don't disagree with the second part of your suggestion (get a Vela or Martinez), which I don't think is related to the first part (hard pass on Big Papu). I am actually more concerned with getting a high impact player for the on field contribution vs. attraction (though I don't mind the bonus) so we have that player who can take over a big game when we need him (see the Citi disaster). Maybe it's even the striker I reference above and turn Heber into a luxury (when he's healthy).
How many people knew who Isi was? Or Alex? Or Callens?
Or Diego Martinez or Jefferson Mena, or Javier Calle, or Mikey Lopez?
What’s the common link between Isi and Ring and Callens and what’s the common link between Martinez and Mena and Calle (and Medina for that matter)?
Assume this is a reference to who can claim responsibility for their discovery/scouting. I have no idea other than educated guesses, some peripheral references in articles, etc. If you have insight or further info or even educated speculation, it would be very interesting to know how we think we found the good and the bad.
