The New York City puts its eyes on Papu
The New York City can be an exit route in this winter market for Papunashvili. The club of the Major Soccer League is very interested in the Georgian player and both he and Zaragoza are looking for a way out for the player, who aims to leave the team in January to release wage mass. Papu and some more, because the Aragonese club needs to release wage mass to make room, in addition to a 9, with Darío Poveda as a goal, to a midfielder with capacity with the ball that Victor wants and that he already asked for in summer. The departure of the Georgian, with a contract until 2022, would be through a transfer, even if it was not high, and he would release his salary.
The American team has followed the player and in Zaragoza they already know the interest in him, but there is currently no firm offer. The New York City is waiting to finalize the hiring of a new coach after the termination of Doménec Torrent's contract two weeks ago, after falling in the MLS semifinals against Toronto, which would later lose the final with the Seattle Sounders in which exzaragocista Víctor Rodríguez played. With Torrent the New York City reached its best historical score in the Eastern Conference, but the coach decided not to continue.
The New York club is determined to bet on Papu, but wants to wait to sign a coach to make that decision in common, although in MLS the weight of the technicians is not as great as in Europe. In New York City, founded in 2013 as a Manchester City franchise (the other founder is the New York Yankees, one of the great baseball clubs in the United States), Spanish soccer players such as David Villa, Iraola, Angeliño or Pablo Alvarez This season has been done by the former player of Numancia Callens. An offer in February of 1.3 million by James Igbekeme, specifically from Toronto, came to Zaragoza in February, which was rejected by the club and there are several teams from that League interested in Eguaras, especially the Seattle Sounders.
Papu arrived in Zaragoza in the summer of 2017 after paying Dinamo de Tbilisi a little less than 100,000 euros in his transfer. His first course was notable in the second round, under the command of Natxo González, and the club decided to renew him until 2022 and not transfer him even though he knew of the interest of some Russian team in the Georgian end. His second campaign was marked by a long ankle injury and last summer Zaragoza, with partisan voices in the club for sale, decided to keep his bet on him when considering the sports direction that was not the best time for his transfer. This season he has played 10 games, but only two starts and 308 minutes, with a performance far from his level in a role of revulsive that Victor has assigned and that has not been easy to adapt. Papu, in addition to in Russia,
Hard Pass on this player , let's bring a real star to this team someone that will get the fans base excited and put fans in seats , a player like Vela or Matinez that will be impactful on the field.

martinez was not someone people knew though, it was until he started scoring that people got excited for him. Vela was different story though. plus i dont think this dude was gonna be a DP
Anyone who watched even a little bit of Serie A knew exactly who Josef was. He showed great potential because he was generally the fastest guy on the pitch. He definitely wasn't the goal scorer he is today but he showed quality.

but at torino? based online stuff he scored less tan 10 goals in a span of like three years. the numbers were not flattering though. being fast is not indicative of being successful though. like i said once he scored here is when he became big.
if we signed someone with 50 plus games and less than 10 goals as a striker, more than half of the fanbase would be losing their shit.
I've watched a few Torino games and Josef Martinez has incredible natural ability. What he lacks, he can improve on. He's also only 23.
There's plenty of guys like this in Europe to go after. His signing comes down to good scouting and being aggressive. Sometimes I think our problem is the front office isn't aggressive but sits back with the -we're better than everyone else and players should be begging to come here- attitude.
Josef Martinez is a bad ass player. I've watched him in Serie A. Guy is fast and direct. His finishing needs a little more work, but MLS defense is not on par. Josef will be a top 5 goal scorer in his first year unless injury. Mark it down. It boggles my mind that if we wanted a player like Maxi, why we didn't go after him.
all this doom and gloom over a team that has yet to play a preseason game ( though on paper atlanta looks good)....but in this league two years i have followed the league more closely i noticed that anyone can beat anyone in this league and that you dont have to be in the top two to win the MLS cup just get hot at right time ( portland/ sounders)
save your analysis till end of season see how bad we did in comparison to atlanta, or at least until we play them
Not trying to be a funny guy, but I knew his potential in MLS. Sometimes stats don't show a full picture.
This was what I said back in the 2017 off-season.
This is what I said in the 2017 week 1 thread.
Haha. Ironically this was your response then lol. Almost 3 years later here we are. Funny.
Who knows whether there is any merit to this rumor, but this would only be a mid-priced signing. I think that we need to replenish the winger and striker depth given the schedule glut this season, and some likely/possible sales (like Taty). I actually think that signing a Heber-like clone also is key, whether it's a similar TAM (or even a DP) deal. We were so much more dangerous with a true finisher like Heber playing. But I suspect that one of the reasons why Heber is playing for us rather than a top-tier team is because he is so fragile. I don't think that will suddenly improve, so I only expect intermittent play from him. Get another.Hard Pass on this player , let's bring a real star to this team someone that will get the fans base excited and put fans in seats , a player like Vela or Matinez that will be impactful on the field.
Or Diego Martinez or Jefferson Mena, or Javier Calle, or Mikey Lopez? How many people knew who Isi was? Or Alex? Or Callens?

They’re all brothers from a different mother? What’s the common link between Isi and Ring and Callens and what’s the common link between Martinez and Mena and Calle (and Medina for that matter)?
Assume this is a reference to who can claim responsibility for their discovery/scouting. I have no idea other than educated guesses, some peripheral references in articles, etc. If you have insight or further info or even educated speculation, it would be very interesting to know how we think we found the good and the bad. What’s the common link between Isi and Ring and Callens and what’s the common link between Martinez and Mena and Calle (and Medina for that matter)?
