NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

If we want Khiry Shelton to be trade bait, I think a good trade we could swing is to get a good RB from an MLS team. What RB's would you like from other teams that we could get in a trade?
I'm not sure we could trade Khiry for a quality RB. Any team taking Khiry will in many way be taking a flier on his potential and ability to fit into their tactics, and they won't want to give up quality in the back for a project player.

Evans is a really good shout. Considering we started a 3rd CB at RB today, Evans is the same type of player. He is a utility player for Seattle - provides cover at RB, CB and CDM.

I would like to see Shelton given a shot at RB

I think it's more likely he's moved in the summer for GAM.

Zabaleta would be a coup this summer.

We just paid Mix 1.5 mil to go away, sometimes when a signing doesn't work out you take a loss.

Mix was a toxic assest that we needed to get rid for salary cap reasons. Maxi is someone who was a proven in Serie A but lost his spot due to injuries and coaching change. Even at a steeply discounted rate at 80% of the fee Leon paid for him, would be over a million. Even if the fee was 500k, if his salary is over 500k, we still wouldnt be able to use TAM.

Officially all we have ever been told is that Mix fell out of favor with PV putting him in the same spot as Maxi, new coach doesn't rate the player, what do we know that indicates he was a Toxic asset?

ETA: If the team wants to be transparent and clear that up I'm all for it but until they do toxic asset is a stretch and pure speculation.

:fist::clapping:

Per Mix himself, he's never been "bought out". So I think if anything, he's just getting his salary topped off at this point.

From what he's said, I don't think he's gotten a lump-sum check from anyone. And from what others have said as well, the "buyout" of the contract was just a procedural mechanism where NYC relinquished control of him in exchange for the cap relief.

Mix is doing us a huge solid by refusing to play anywhere else in MLS. Otherwise, someone would get a premium MLS midfielder without a commensurate cap impact. I

While I find myself in the strange position of defending Mix lately with regards to this toxic asset comment and my support for the position that he deserves every penny of his guaranteed contract, we are still on opposite sides of the opinion spectrum when projecting what he could have contributed to NYCFC. I respect the difference of opinion and see no need to open that debate again but I thought it warranted mentioning as I wouldn't want my support for his right to his money or my defense of unsubstantiated attacks on his character to be misconstrued as a flip flop on my part with regards to my doubts about his on field MLS potential.
