You don't have to remind me. I am capable of understanding distinctions, even subject-specific or subtle ones.

Kjbert is just a straight hater on this topic, and the only internal logic governing his comments on the matter is "what can I say to denigrate Mix?"

From what he's said, I don't think he's gotten a lump-sum check from anyone. And from what others have said as well, the "buyout" of the contract was just a procedural mechanism where NYC relinquished control of him in exchange for the cap relief.

Mix is doing us a huge solid by refusing to play anywhere else in MLS. Otherwise, someone would get a premium MLS midfielder without a commensurate cap impact. I

Point of order, NYCFC is actually preventing him from playing anywhere else in MLS. That no trade no waivers clause continues to remain in effect. Since we just used a mechanism to gain cap, relief the rest of his contract, which was always with MLS the entity not NYCFC the club, still stands. To be fair though, it sounds like NYCFC is consciously exercising their commitment to not place him on waivers, instead of it being a contractual obligation; even under the circumstances of buyout.

Which is actually a new data point in the never ending quest to make MLS more transparent.

Please don't take the toxic comment as something against Mix. We don't know the full story, but I am in the camp that he did not get a far shake. Mix was playing zero games and taking a max budget slot plus at least 250K-300k+ in GAM. Lighting 750k of salary cap/GAM on fire hurt our ability to compete the last two season regardless of who you blame for the Mix situation.

If we didn't have to deal with the MLS salary cap and loan rules, I think a likely scenario is that if the team was trying to force him out for salary cap reasons he would still be on roster and probably playing. If there was something else going on, he would probably have been loaned out a lot sooner.

Forget about the contract, maybe he just wasn't good enough for what the team was trying to accomplish? Maybe the deal to get rid of him was no different than getting rid of Chris Wingert last year.

I'd say its more like he made the team too financially top heavy and didn't really fit the system, for whatever reason.

Basically, if you commit to playing a 3 DP system 30%+ of your salary cap is tied up in exactly three players. Mix was making so much money, and hogging up so much cap relief space that it was more like 40% of the cap and, until TAM got reworked, 70% of the relief mechanisms spent on 4 players. That just doesn't seem like a winning formula when your supposed to put 11 men on the field and have a 20+ guys on the roster.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, that Poku deal saved the team, without it I don't think we would be nearly as far along with rebuilding the team from Kreis' disastrous management.

Eh, swings and roundabouts. Yes NYCFC is technically preventing him via said clause, but all the talk appears to be that Mix himself made NYCFC put it in, presumably because a clause in a contract would be legally binding whereas him reaching this point without having pressed for the clause and then having to throw his toys out of the pram to avoid being traded elsewhere in the league would be considerably more awkward for him. It's still ultimately Mix's choice though.

I've always liked his skill but part of his contract would have to stipulate mandatory yoga/meditation, group therapy, and some calming meds.

There are primadonna's who's shit you put up with because they are that good. Nasri is probably one of those guys in MLS; actually based on his pure skill and current age its very likely.

But the real question is would not fit in the CFG system?

Good god no, CFG and the Yankees are very much on the same page when it comes to players, the nail that sticks out (in any negative way) gets hammered down.
