NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

I guess Sagna. He's the better athlete, he's more physical, he's French (better for communication with Chanot and PV), and he could slot in as a CB in a pinch.
Having watched nearly every minute that Zabaleta and Sagna have played for MC since both joined I can't say I agree with this (aside from the indisputable fact that he is French) but I think it's more a matter of interpretation so not really worthy of endless debate.

Suffice it to say, I'd rather Zabaleta but I don't think either will come.

Oh please don't get me wrong, Zaba is practically a club legend, and the guy was hands down a top RB for 2-3 seasons but he's aged horribly. If we're judging both players, today, based on their skill, athleticism, and likelihood to contribute meaningfully going forward, I would choose Sagna.

You're right though, no need for endless debate and neither will come.

Iniesta turned down a €33 million offer from the Chinese Super League, apparently still mulling a NYCFC offer.

I don't know if he'd like the physical nature of MLS, but holy shit we'd have a mobile & technical midfield if he linked up with Maxi & Ring. Anybody know if he's scared to take a shot from the top of the box? If he isn't, then tell him the "blank check" has a bonus for goals scored.

Like that?

"General Manager Claudio Reyna and NYCFC are said to have offered Iniesta a blank check to leave the Catalan club he’s been with since 1996."

Blank check salary? I guess our next DP may be the most expensive salary in MLS.

This. In current NYCFC midfield setup, Iniesta >> Pirlo. Would make perfect sense if Pirlo leaves at the end of the year as anticipated.

Some folks on here would not be happy with Iniesta joining this winter to replace Pirlo

I would be thrilled, assuming he is healthy

Has Iniesta been playing/starting regularly for Barca? It'd be nice of them to left him out of his contract early if they have no further need for him.
He's been playing, but only went 90 minutes 5 times in La Liga games, has had a few knocks. He's great but you can't count on him to be fully fit for the entire season at this point it seems. It would be like getting another Lampard at this rate.

He's 10th on the team in min, I doubt they'd let him go this year unless they are bringing someone in or we're offering some type of transfer fee. That said if we could get him this summer it would be interesting to see:

1. What MLS would do if NYCFC called them up and said we can get Iniesta but we need 4 DP slots for the rest of the season until Pirlo leaves. New rule? How could they not make it happen?
2. How PV would sort out trying to fit Iniesta, Pirlo and Maxi on the pitch at the same time.

Fun thought experiment, doubt it happens. Even if we have to wait till summer of 2018 he'll "only" be 33, closer to a Villa aged DP rather than Lampard/Pirlo.
