NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

He's 10th on the team in min, I doubt they'd let him go this year unless they are bringing someone in or we're offering some type of transfer fee. That said if we could get him this summer it would be interesting to see:

1. What MLS would do if NYCFC called them up and said we can get Iniesta but we need 4 DP slots for the rest of the season until Pirlo leaves. New rule? How could they not make it happen?
2. How PV would sort out trying to fit Iniesta, Pirlo and Maxi on the pitch at the same time.

Fun thought experiment, doubt it happens. Even if we have to wait till summer of 2018 he'll "only" be 33, closer to a Villa aged DP rather than Lampard/Pirlo.

On #1, still hoping Maxi can get bought down. But I'm sure there is a rule that could be fudged, but not invented, midseason.

On #2, I would guess Maxi moves to wing for the rest of the season. Rotate through Wallace, Harrison, and Maxi as starting wingers during the denser schedule of the hot summer. Iniesta and Ring sit on either side of Pirlo.

He's been playing, but only went 90 minutes 5 times in La Liga games, has had a few knocks. He's great but you can't count on him to be fully fit for the entire season at this point it seems. It would be like getting another Lampard at this rate.

Good stuff. A friendly suggestion. This kind of information would be a good addition to your articles (which I already like very much).

This is right in line with my prediction that Villa gets to play with a buddy for a year. I would not be surprised if he has been assured that the team would do all in its power (and wallet) to make this happen.

Iniesta would be a superstar in MLS, he may just need an enforcer by his side (Ring?) and some help from the refs. While his injuries this season would make me nervous, he did come back from his knee injury way ahead of schedule and amazed everyone when he hiked up that Spanish mountain weeks early. He did tweak his calf a few weeks later which may have been related to his recovery or not. Fuck, typing about a calf injury just gave me a nasty flashback.

Iniesta in our system playing with Villa (and little Maxi) would be a blast to watch.

Cadena Cope in Spain says Lacazette has agreed to join Atletico next year. That mean either Torres or Gameiro are gone.

Iniesta and Khedira are both frequently dinged up these days. To be honest, I really don't want a skillful player that might be able to keep up physically, i.e. another Pirlo. I want a physical player that might be able to dominate with his skill.

From the smoke, it looks like we are after a CM. But I will hold out hope for Fernando Torres until he actually signs his next contract.

Has Torres fully recovered from that severe head injury?

Reports were very positive after spending a night in the hospital, and after about two weeks off or so, it looks like he made his first appearance since the incident on the 19th as a sub against Sevilla.
Can we have both Torres and Inesta? Pirlo can retire and we buy down Maxi. That, gentlemen, we have a new Spanish Armada (bit old and bit leaking in the rear, but still very powerful this side of Atlantic Ocean) in NYC

There won't be a better rested player in MLS! I would love to see him perform at a high level as he should bring a lot of eyes to MLS, and he's a class guy who could become a valuable marketer and recruiter.
For only one year. Wonder if it's a smash/grab and he's back to Europe in 2018, or if he's just testing the season to see if he likes the nuances of MLS (travel, competition, etc) before signing an extension?

Didn't the last Spanish Armada spectacularly sink while on their way to conquer an upstart opponent?
