?
All three are DPs. None of them cost over 1 million, but they are all considered DPs
I agree he's worth his salary. But is he worth the budget charge/DP? So far I say no. Diego Valeri is having an MVP like season right now in Portland. My threshold was whether or not he proved to be better than Valeri or Piatti or Klejstan. None of them are DPs
I would also like to say that he has been better than Kljestan this year. And to want to compare his productivity against Valeri and Piatti is fair. But also, those are 2 DPs that Portland and Montreal have hit complete home runs on. I know we should strive to have productivity out of our DPs like Valeri and Piatti, but those are definitely top performers.I know this is the internet and so this is crazy, but can we give the guy more than five games? I know you said so far, but I'm not ready to make any concrete thoughts like this on Maxi. He's hsown some flashes of what he's capable of, but also shown that he's inconsistent.
I want to see how he looks once we're into the middle of the season.

Iniesta and Torres after the summer pleaseShouldn't we hit home runs on our DPs as well? Right now, we are 1/4. Villa was a grand slam. Lampard was good when he was here, but that wasn't enough. Pirlo has been underwhelming. And Maxi floats in and out of games.
Iniesta and Torres after the summer please
Summer 2018:
Villa (DP) - Torres (DP) - Harrison
Iniesta (DP) - Ring - Maxi (TAM)
Wallace - Callens - Chanot - Zabaleta? (TAM)
Matarrita and Herrera as key bench pieces.
IMO, it all depends on whether Harrison wants to get American citizenship or not. But I definitely agree with you that Mata will be gone by then.Even money BOTH Matarrita and Harrison are gone by then
Mata very likely could be gone this summer.IMO, it all depends on whether Harrison wants to get American citizenship or not. But I definitely agree with you that Mata will be gone by then.
I'll flip a coin on Jack.
How would you feel about Pique instead of Torres?Summer 2018:
Villa (DP) - Torres (DP) - Harrison
Iniesta (DP) - Ring - Maxi (TAM)
Wallace - Callens - Chanot - Zabaleta? (TAM)

Valid, but is there anything to make us think that it can't?Idk what makes people think Maxi's contract could be bought down with TAM.
According to Don Balon (Spanish outlet) he's going to retire from the national team after the 2018 World Cup and wants to move to MLS to live a quieter lifestyle with his gf Shakira and their children.Sign me up. I'm not a "no CB DP" guy, but I'd avoid it unless a can't miss option comes along. Pique would be a can't miss.
There's no way he's a real option though - contract thru summer 2019 and would cost $10's of millions in transfer fees, no?
Idk what makes people think Maxi's contract could be bought down with TAM.
We've been over this. Seth's overlays have *clearly* shown that Villa can only play LW at the Fresh Direct site, and not at GAL or Willets. Jeez.I agree with SoupInNYC that is driven by the fact that we have no information saying we can't so why not speculate. Also never underestimate the power of wishful thinking. Heck we've been specifically told multiple times that Villa prefers to play centrally and the team has never given any indication they intend to play him anywhere else yet we get a proposed formation post to the forums wishfully putting him at LW about every 2 days.
I heard he is loud mouthed and that can cause troubleAccording to Don Balon (Spanish outlet) he's going to retire from the national team after the 2018 World Cup and wants to move to MLS to live a quieter lifestyle with his gf Shakira and their children.
I translated it and added other details including a link to the original story here.
It's too far out to realistically tell, but yeah his contract runs through summer 2019 and there would likely be a transfer fee, unless they agree to move him in January (at which point he's eligible to negotiate a contract without Barcelona's involvement with any club) of 2019 or unless he finds a way to void his contract with Barcelona which I don't think FCB would even consider.
