NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

According to Don Balon (Spanish outlet) he's going to retire from the national team after the 2018 World Cup and wants to move to MLS to live a quieter lifestyle with his gf Shakira and their children.

I translated it and added other details including a link to the original story here.

It's too far out to realistically tell, but yeah his contract runs through summer 2019 and there would likely be a transfer fee, unless they agree to move him in January (at which point he's eligible to negotiate a contract without Barcelona's involvement with any club) of 2019 or unless he finds a way to void his contract with Barcelona which I don't think FCB would even consider.
If he wants to move, they'll let him. Doesn't he have family on the board or something like that? That may not be the exact scenario, but IIRC he has some major personal connections to management of the club.

ETA: researched this for 2 minutes. His maternal name is Bernabeau. His grandfather was a VP of Barca. Saying Barca wouldn't let him move would be something akin to the Texas Rangers not letting Jenna Bush's son move if he were a multi-World Series winning catcher who wanted to go play in Japan. (All fictional, but you get my point)

If Ross Barkley can play RW, Maxi can play LW.

Mata leaves this summer. Wallace moves to LB. Maxi moves to LW. We sign a real #10 who has the physical tools to manage in this league

Saw this on reddit last night, was disappointed I didn't notice it until it ended. Even more so when I search the thread and saw no questions regarding MLS and/or NYCFC.

In another comment he was asked if he would finish his career in America or China. He replied with something like "I have family in NY and there are a lot of Dutch people there." In other words, New York is definitely still on his radar once his contract expires in summer of 2019.

How about dealing someone to Philly for Rosenberry at RB? Maybe give them one of our attackers who is on the bench? Maybe White is playing well enough there that we don't want to give anything up, but it's a thought.
I like the thought, and think there is much value to be had for both squads, but not sure Philly would part with a young talent. He can be a good piece to develop while they bring in other talented players to build out a better squad.
