Nycfc V Houston Motm & Post Game Discussion

Sooooo close on my earlier prediction that we give up one goal, Villa converts a PK and we score one more to win 2-1. Critical analysis aside, it was a fun and exciting night at the stadium in any event. Took three friends to their first game and they are now well on board. Going to watch the broadcast tomorrow for another perspective and gather my thoughts on the detail. Suffice it to say that Poku has that aura where everyone gets excited every time he touches the ball. It's Poku time!

Can't remember the last time we locked a thread but ok sure. Really don't get you dude.
You don't see the lock on the Houston match day thread? Shit.

Here's me: I react to whatever I see. Villa was a bitch. He should be called out.

Them trotting out MCFC players was even worse. That should be pointed out.

Other match day threads have remained open. This one didn't.

You make the call.

Pretty sure the match thread was locked to direct traffic to the shout box, not because of you. But don't worry, you're not the only one calling Villa out on that--the commentators on YES made a point of noting that Villa was just standing at midfield, twice, even though he was off camera.

Match day thread was locked just before match started. This thread was opened up for MOTM/Postgame and talk during the match is always done in shoutbox.
For whatever reason you were able to reply because your permissions were different due to the international liaison title. Made a quick change and that was that. When you replied thread was already locked.

It was fucking despicable. It it had happened for a premier league team, he may never touch the field again.

He's not even close to worth what he's paid. I'll say it even if no one else will. We'd find the money better spent on Landon Donovan that him. He can not hadle the physical nature of the league, nor can he adapt to playing with lesser skilled players.

MLS is a different challenge than other leagues. Thus far, Kaka looks up for it, Villa doesnt. Beyond that, he tanked a play that ended in a goal that he could have immediately stopped.

So now, we're 2 DPs in and none who seem to give a shit. And the one player we have making contributions on both sides without fail gets all the criticism from the coach because he's a young non-dp and Kreis isn't intimidated by him.

Kreis needs someone to check his pH. He's all fucked up.

I went for a quick too much beer run to the head late second half and just happened to run into the Man City boys on the way. I'm not going to comment on what folks may or may not think about them being at the game etc, but they seemed really cool and friendly (coming from a Red Devils fan BTW).

Villa: His first shot was so close (should have been a goal); Converting the PK was a must and he pulled through
Nemec: In the box to draw the penalty (finally using his head the right way); That sweet chip shot at the end that hit the crossbar
Poku: Played like the god that he is with that beautiful chip assist at the end to Brovsky
Brovsky: Played better than normal; Great awareness to get in the box for the header from Poku (9 times out of 10 that will be a goal); Should have scored that volley shot from Mix (at least get it on goal)
Mix: The great cross to Brovsky that should have been the goal.
Mullins: With the bending shot at the end (trying to pull off some Medhi Magic)
Saunders: Off his line during the goal but nobody could stop that shot; Saved us every other time.

MOTM: POKU! (Actually Villa & Saunders) (Could have been Brovsky with two goals).

Im not 100% with you on villa. Kaka definately is doing better. He did act a bit bitchish and the MCFC players was annoying. You nailed it with Kreis though.

So we're both right. But I'm more right because trotting out another team's players during our match is horse shit. And Villa acted like a *****.

I haven't had a real doubt about Villa until tonight. I'm telling you, the behavior on the goal was so despicable. It would end careers at many clubs.

Adding this: how in the hell does anyone think Villa deserves a 7? For what? Kicking in a PK? Hell, this ain't England. People are expected to make a damn spot kick from 12 yards.

He did nothing else I saw. As a matter of fact, he was one of the poorer players in the pitch TONIGHT. He's absolutely our best player. He's not even close to that important right now because of his play/the way he's deployed/our team.

Kreis is incapable of managing him. It's a bit humorous, honestly.

The MOTM should have been Brovsky if he could have converted one if not two of the winning goals.

In the same quote Kreis said that Poku might be staring next week, he also said that Mix is leaving? USMNT?

He can't handle the physicality of this league. But don't doubt that he's giving it all. He rarely crossed midfield anyway.

Shelton, Mullins and Poku can play with the big boys. Their strength is a thing of beauty.

Mix is my MOTM. Love the work rate.

Wingert is a worse LB than a CB.

Thought the Facey-Hernandez partnership was fantastic. Let's go back to it.

Sounds like Calle is in no hurry to come back. That's dissapiintjng.

Loved Poku tonight. I liked Mix wide right. But only if it means Poku is central and Shelton is wide left.

And this was why I have been on the Nemec bandwagon from the start. He was excellent tonight. He is what he is.

Yeah, friendly vs Netherlands. They still haven't announced the roster though, and I think Klinsmann said that he wanted more Americans playing abroad for this game
