While true, I doubt his contract runs out in January. They've said he could leave if he wants, and they'll let him out of it. Don't see why they'd let him go in the winter and not now.

I am trying to figure out, if I was him, what the best scenario would be to be in peak shape for Euro16. If he stayed in Europe...he might be burnt out at the end of the season, which coincides with training for Euro. So taking a break now and starting with NYCFC next year may make sense. It would be a nice ramp up for him performance wise and he'll hit Euro a couple months in and be fresh. But that migh be too much time off. I know Italy has qualifiers in fall, but that's it. So it depends on his fitness and his body. Only he will know that.
