I would love for NYC to sign them, but I am not sure they are deal breakers. I am not sure any MLS team would say "those 2 would put us over the top". As such, no MLS team will pay any large amount for the transfer. So what is truly their value? MNUTD think they are important and good for them. They should keep them.

Not for us. The point is that if someone in MLS wants him, they will have to buy him. We don't know what that will cost, but it could make him a DP. Let's say he wants a 250k a year salary. Fine. Throw another 500kon top in transfer fees and then what happens?

There is rumors going that Wedley Schneijder is moving here from Galatasaray as he hasn't been paid since August.
Interesting. I was going to come in here and tell you that you are hugely late with this news and that Juventus stepped in to take him but it seems today Juventus has announced they're throwing in the towel on signing him.

Could be MLS making something happen here, too. I wonder who though? LA? Us? RB? DC? ...Toronto? Lol

If it's a multi year deal then that transfer fee is spread over the years of the contract for DP purposes right? So he still wouldn't necessarily be a DP even with a transfer fee being paid. I'm really trying to get confirmation because I'm not 100% sure.

I would love to be able to pick him up. But Galatasaray has stuck by their guns and have continued to say that they will keep him for the remainder of his contract, which ends in the summer of 2016. If Juventus couldn't flash enough money to change their minds, idk if we would be able to unless CFG did whatever was possible to make it happen to make up for the "lampardgate" situation

Yes, but you would never get away with it. For a start, Sneijder would never agree a $250k basic salary anyway, he would want millions. Secondly, the transfer fee mooted for him from other clubs is around $10-15m anyway, so you'd have to sign him on a 50-year contract to get that under the cap.

Hard to say but Wesley isn't young and I think Juve wouldn't want to pay that much for him either. Saying you're not interested in selling them and then turning around and selling is pretty much standard procedure, too.

But the rumor stories seem to believe Galatasaray is really set on keeping him so I wouldn't bet against it. Who knows though?

They're talking about Minnesota United's Miguel Ibarra.

They both would. It would probably be better to sign a 30 year old Sneijder, but Xavi is still the better player by a distance.

I understand it's Barca, but Xavi is now a backup. Sneijder is one of the best Dutch players out there.

I'm gonna have to agree with Kjbert on this one. Xavi is an absolUtley amazing player and if he were to be 4 years younger then I would be all over the Xavi wagon. But the fact is Sneijder is the hot topic for a transfer in Europe right now. If you gave me a choice between the two I would have to take sneijder, but I would still be extatic for either.

Xavis legs have gone worse than Lampards. Agreed that Sneijder would be much better, especially for the way MLS games are played. He would add more to a team now than Xavi would

Landon Donovan. Maybe not NYCFC, but that dude is not staying retired. He's going to pull a Michael Jordan. Came back with the Wizards for a few years after the Bulls.
