What's the injury? I don't think I heard about that
Nagged with hammy since World Cup. Other ankle or thigh or knee injuries. The a horrible case of the flu I believe. Guy has had bad luck.

He was slotted to start. He crushed it at WC. Gets injured, late to train, new club. Guy there does well, team does better than expected.

If you coach for a living, are you going to bench the guys playing in favor of someone who hasn't been proven in the squad? So you get a random mop up run out here and there. You make a bad turnover in your second game back. Lose a mark in the fourth. Meanwhile, all your minutes are still less than what you played in the fucking furnace of the World Cup, where you were widely recognized as one of the best fullbacks.

What would you do, Tom? Hang them up, out of shame for your lack of skill?

Dude is really fucking good. He'd have started for Germany, and that's not an exaggeration. Maybe not every match, but he would have. They regret not keeping him.

Can I just offer up one small, cynical comment? How in the hell do we end up fans of NYCFC, a squad we look to be the marquee club and embodiment of a burgeoning American soccer culture, yet we he have no U.S. Nats in our squad? Xolos now have 3, 2 of whom are good bets to be starters in the important competitions of the next 2 summers. They also have 4 potential starters on our Olympic squad. Come on, Don. Get your head out of your ass. This is unacceptable.

Xolos is an honorary American team. Most of their fans are from San Diego where they have a great youth academy... probably the most USA-friendly team in Liga MX. Don't blame Garber, blame USA soccer for not finding the talent that is obviously there.

Nothing against Xolos. I follow them, and I like what they have going on. But Moreno for one was right here in the NYC area and MLS/RBNY couldn't keep him. Now, he looks set to start getting meaningful minutes soon for xolos.

I hope Xolos means donkeys in Mexico. Because if there's anything I associate with Tijuana, it's a donkey show.

On a positive side hopefully this move by Mix gives the MLS players union something to work with during the CBA battle. This illustrates that there is obviously things that need to change in the structure of the league.

why is is this cynical? it's a pretty fair assessment.

Liga MX is a better league right now. I would have liked him here, but as a nats fan, that's a better move.

one isn't going to improve w/o the other. this is where jurgen pisses me off, he wants what's best for the national team and doesn't understand that for the US to attract our best athletes to soccer we need to have a competitive league here for them to grow up with.

edit: which leads me to this, jurgen may only care about the national team only as much as it benefits him. he's no different than a GM trading away prospects all the time to try and win 'now' as opposed to develop.

The whole cap limit really hinders many US nationals to come to MLS, Mexico doesnt have that. Increase the Cap space and it would be more plausible for US nationals to come to MLS.

oh and Xolos is short for xoloitzcuintli, a breed of dog that is found in the area. Although i assume you could of assumed that by their logo.

Yes. I am well aware of those limitations, and I agree with what you're saying.

As for Xolos, I'm going to continue believing it means donkeys. I like it more, and no one can stop me.

This whole " league owns the player" is something i never heard of prior to MLS, this is probably another reason why some players may want to join other teams elsewhere

I feel that's why Mix went to Liga MX... it is pretty clear he wants to play in a big Euro league. MLS is too restrictive with player movement within and outside the league. MLS needs to address this because it is keeping the top notch young players from coming here. Young players want opportunities... older players want money. MLS has to address both in the new CBA.

very true, though i am surprised he would go to Liga MX. He was already in europe i mean i thought it could of been a easier jump to another league in europe with him already being there. Though if he has a good tournament in liga mx i am sure someone in europe will be interested.
