what about a high risk borrower who does go through a bank application. then the bank sells those loans to investment banks in the millions, who packages them, and sell them with investment grade ratings to pension funds.. is that business too? b/c that's the logic you're playing with. it's quite circular.
How is it circular? It's exactly the opposite. The problem to which you are referring stems from extremely lax lending standards at FinIns - actually, lax adherence to underwriting standards by frontline employees would be more accurate. Sharks are exactly the opposite. They damn well know and accurately price the risk of default for each individual.

I don't have time to explain it all here. And I'm exhausted from doing business all day. You have a shit borrower profile and want to borrow money, you pay more. White or gray or black market lending, it's the same damn premise.

You don't want to pay more interest? Live within your means.

Correct.

So why all the international slots? Who in God's name are we signing then?

Unless we are going to buy up a ton of cheap, young talent in South America to bring here.

Look at most MLS rosters, many of their have very international rosters. I think NYRB only had 3-4 Americans in its starting 11. If NYCFC wants to sign more internationals, then they can. Or they could trade them for value. Kreis historically isn't a big user of international slots, he is more like 4-5 internationals who are starters. But Reyna may take a more holistic approach. Rather they have the wiggle room which they do now.

Understood - but why trade for a 9th international slot if you're not going to use it.

I hate to say this, but a couple of the things the club has done so far makes me scratch my head.

Who says ask the internationals had to be loanees? Actually, the loans wouldn't be great for our team anyway. Players who are here for the short term, or who are subject to the whims of pellegrino are less useful than foreigners that cfgs scouting network can unearth, who would be our own players. Do we want to deal with it when our man city loanees decide they want to go back in the middle of our season?

I'm starting to think we are going to sign 6 random international kids thanks to the CFG scouting network. Maybe people who couldn't get English work permits. Who knows

@Midas Mulligan but it is Mix. Just ask Portland and Columbus what they think. You can't separate the two. He is Mix's agent and this is what you are dealing with. He's scum.

It would be a lot harder to sign most players if you couldn't separate them from scumbag agents lol. Anyway I'm not judging the situation (mainly as I haven't really read about it) and who cares about Diskerud anyway? Hasn't be signed with Tequila...I mean Tijuana?

He's not going to Tijuana or any club in the Americas unless its in MLS according to him.

Think about this, the chances of a new CBA getting signed before a couple of days/weeks before the season starts has little to no chance of happening. So if the new CBA brings in a large increase in cap space (highly likely) they'll use those international slots during the summer transfer window.

Right now I read that they are being conservative with their cap numbers assuming only a 10-15% increase in cap. 100% isn't out of the question so where would all of this cap space be made up? It's not going to be made up of domestic players. It'll be made up of high prices international talent which will open up in the Summer. Expect them and a lot of MLS teams to be big buyers this summer. Those international slots will be very important.
