Yeah. This reminds me that, generally speaking, slowdowns on major highways are more likely to be caused by really slow people hanging out in the middle lane than those driving average speeds in the fast lane.
Strange, what I find in heavy traffic (and this is around NYC and surrounding areas) is that the middle lane actually moves faster than the left lane. Makes no damn sense but I so often find you are stopped dead in the left and the middle is moving. Counterintuitive.
and on highways many times the right lane as well- but i think this is because everyone thinks "oh, no one is coming in/out through the left lane, so i'm gonna merge there" and so everyone tries going to the left lane- thereby slowing down the left lane, and then on the right people are exiting/entering so less people want to be in that lane unless they have to... and then the middle is just the service between the left and right lanes, is what it looks like to me
To be a little clearer - think about the following in relation to a 3-lane highway. The slow driver in the left lane could be due to one of two causes: (1) he is an idiot; (2) he is driving his usual middle-lane speed while passing an even slower driver in the middle lane (who is also an idiot and should be in the far right lane). I tend to find most of my slow progress in the left lane is caused by the second example, and in fact the cause is usually a long line of middle-lane people passing the complete cretin using the middle lane at 5mph below the speed limit.
It’s also really hard to drive in the right lane with the way the on/off ramps are set up with the “on” before the “off” and zippering/crisscrossing traffic.
Plus, the Northeast is served almost universally by 6-lane highways (3 each direction) which is far to narrow for the population size. We really need 10 lane highways (5 each direction) so that the right lane is only for entering/exiting, the middle three are normal cruising, and the far left is for those wishing to get pulled over. Not that we’ll ever see this with how close some residential divisions are to the highways - the govt can’t afford the eminent domain funds needed for expansion.
This is one of those counterintuitive things where adding lanes actually tends to worsen traffic. The article below is a good discussion.

If they say so..... and I get their water pipe analogy, but that same example would also suggest that in a more densely populated area, a larger pipe/Highway would move a higher volume of cars. Whereas a small pipe limits the volume.
Idk. Except that driving on the BQE on the weekends sucks.
I would fall into the category of "Driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit in the middle lane". People still pass me at crazy speeds, and I always see cards tailgating me- so sometimes I pull over to the right lane if it's empty, but if it's not I'll stay in the middle because I'm not going faster for the sake of someone else who wants to go that much faster. 5-10mph over the speed limit in the middle lane is acceptable, but I surely don't go into the left lane unless I want to pass someone going slower than me in the middle.
Why do people tailgate in the right lane? Pisses me off. I was in the right lane going 60 today and this woman was trying to overtake a middle lane care- and merged into my lane and just stood on my ass for like 20 seconds. Come. On. Stop. Please. T-T

I am so jealous of this kid. Liverpool played League 2 Tranmere, a local club just promoted from national, in a friendly today. Karius spilled a free kick for an easy goal.
The Tranmere player is a big Liverpool supporter. He had tons of tweets about the UCL final beforehand and lots of pics of him in LFC gear. He got to say right up close the same thing I was always shouting at Saunders from 215 and Karius from my couch. Sometimes, it's just all too much and you have to tell them they are indeed "fucking shit".

My wife ordered an entirely vegan meal tonight. I’d recommend lighting your $100 bill directly on fire. More entertaining, tastes better, more filling.
