Philly Postmatch

Anybody notice that the sons of Ben did a parody of Hey Baby??? Couldn't make out their lyrics but they were fully belting it. And then we scored....

Also, how did the guy that took Lampard down on the breakaway only get a yellow and not a red - wasn't he last man?
Props for the New York Cosmos chant as well.

By the way, why was an entire section of the supporters group seats completely empty all game?

Ok my thoughts on today's experience.

Great first half. Intensity was great in a game that was played in warm conditions. 2nd half wasn't as good and they hung on.

Lampard did well, Villa could of scored a hat trick and Pirlo was indeed man of the match.

But I'm happy I got to see NYCFC at Yankee Stadium which was something I wanted to do since this team started.

I'm also happy to see Pirlo play in person and score a beautiful free kick as well !!

I thought the crowd was good. It was Great to see many people of different nationalities, race and ages at the stadium. NYCFC is indeed the team for NYC. Let's hope they get a stadium soon enough.

How about that Brillant goal? Literally just head it anywhere else, not at the goal.

Of course the day I was supposed to go but had to work last minute, they won.

I have such a shitty luck lmao.

Good for Frank, as much shit as he gets.
Did you also happen to have to work when they played Vancouver?!? If so, I sense something going on here my friend.

Bold tactical moves from Vieira today. The decision to play LL Cool J in an extreme wide position ultimately paid off, and we are now 1-0-0 in games in which Uncle L has appeared. Bravo to all concerned.

Is that the guy from NCIS LA?

I thought it was great when there was a long stoppage in the second half and Villa went over to Harrison and you could tell he was doing some coaching by the way he was pointing and gesturing. He also had his arm around him for some of it, and then grabbed his hand at the end. Probably won't show up on television, so thought it was worth pointing out as it was a nice moment.

I will let others comment on in-game substitutions by PV, but I do appreciate how comfortable he is excluding from the 18, players he thinks shat the bed in a previous game or even in practice. There was no doubt in my mind that Shelton and Mullins wouldn't be included today (I also suspected the same of Mix but don't want to jump back into that debate). His Chateau Bow Wow is the couch rather than the bench.

Love this from villa. We won, sure... But if we were only up by 1 it would have been another game we blew at the end. Wouldn't want anyone else leading this team.
Before my phone died the thing I noticed was how casually white and Hernandez boot the ball out of bounds and give up the posession under even light pressure. Work for it and keep it in play.
This team HAS to be better at closing out games.
I saw that at the end and wondered wtf was going on? Villa got right in his face and went bat shit crazy on White when the final whistle blew. I saw him kick a water bottle or two as well.

This happened to be the 13th match we took in and by far the best we've seen. After we went up 2-0, I wish I had a buck for every time I told my son we need that 3rd effin' goal in the worst way.

I nearly had a heart attack at the final whistle, because I thought that tackle in the box was more a PK than the one Philly was awarded!
