Philly Postmatch

Really gutted I had to miss this one. I'll have to try to find a proper highlights reel somewhere, but I'm loving what I saw of Harrison's work for Villa's goal. Defending leads in the latter stages of games clearly still needs to be worked on, but when you have a three goal lead, it's easier to hold out for all three points...

Saunders positioning and command of the 6 yard box at corners is abysmal.
There were a few times during the run of play he got caught in no-man's land. He's just really poor. And I'm getting tired of him punching catchable balls - those just come right back at the box.

Anybody notice that the sons of Ben did a parody of Hey Baby???
I don't think that was a parody any more than our version is... Don't they just have their own version of Hey, Baby like basically every single other soccer team's supporters do?
It was simply a booming "New York Cosmos" chant in response to a "we can't hear you" but I liked it.
Oh, that must have been what they were chanting when I *thought* I heard "New York loves us!", which at the time I thought was weirdly clever.

As I said in live chat, though, I think the near-silence of the non-supporters sections of the stadium isn't doing good things for the team. From what I can tell if a Euro or South American team were up 2-0 before halftime the whole stadium would be singing their hearts out. Now, I'm not trying to lay too much blame on the fans because I think it's a consequence of the stadium itself and I'm sure the atmosphere will improve tremendously in an SSS where the majority of the seating is much closer to the pitch than it is now.

You obviously don't sit anywhere near my four year old.

This will never, ever, ever happen in NYC.

Just watching the replay, and I believe my Villa going "bat shit crazy" at the end of the match was an understatement.

Jeez, they just showed him sitting on the field and he was still steaming.

At the start of the game, it felt like 12k attendance. Team posted 27k.

It actually did fill in nicely, but I don't get the late arrivals every game.

4 train ran local. My buddy didn't realize it and took him an hour from battery park

Traffic was a real bitch as well throgs neck and whitestone were both jammed solid

He is absolutely awful in every aspect of his game except his distribution by throws.

Maybe he belongs in Yankee Stadium, but for the other team that plays there.
