We also noticed that little red dot on the bottom left of the sun during the totality, it was super bright during the totality. We weren't sure what it was, but I still think it was a sun flare or something?

Apparently it is a prominence. There another fainter one on the right side just below the imaginary halfway line. Flares are more dramatic and don't last very long. Astronomy types were pretty excited for this eclipse because there are multiple prominences right now, presumably visible to professional equipment.
