Reid looked dangerous, and the attacking patterns changed immediately once we had a true #9 on the field.
The team also looked a step slow once Reid got on in relation to him. It was like the previous hour of false 9 made them forget the runs a true striker makes. There were at least 2-3 times shortly after he came on where we turned the ball over and he was just itching to get in behind but our players spotted his run a beat late and either failed to make the pass or waited until he was offside. The team needs a starting #9 so that if/when Reid subs in they are used to a player running those lanes.

I'm sure it will vary from game to game but as far as establishing himself as one of our best XI starters I think Trewin has a better chance of displacing Raul or Kevin (in the case of Raul sliding to LB) than he does taking a starting spot from Parks or O'Neil.
It could definitely work out that way. It gets very crowded at the double pivot with a healthy Keaton, and don't forget, we'll get Pepe back before too long, too.

But hey, better to have an embarrassment of riches than be scrambling. I'm sure Pascal is thrilled to have so many options.

In a way, it's a lot like the situation Sebastian Hoeneß enjoys at Stuttgart. There are nine outfield players who have between 1,000 and 1,700 minutes played, and then another five who have between 700 and 1,000. Everyone has gotten at least one start except for Jeremy Arévalo, and he just joined the first team at age 20.

I could definitely see us with a similar squad profile this season: https://fbref.com/en/squads/598bc722/Stuttgart-Stats

The big question is striker, really. I'm still bummed the Sylla deal fell through. He checked all the boxes.
