Nothing new in the article, just rehashing what came from the Post.
The only thing new in this one was this misleading bit: "The ideal situation is having the stadium built by 2025, a source told the outlet. That could create an opportunity to host a World Cup game in 2026, as New York City and New Jersey were last month named one of many hosts for the global event. "

When the article is written by real estate people and not soccer people.

Yeah I saw that and was like, "do they even know the requirements of the wc stadiums? smh"

It should say "This could create an opportunity to capitalize on the 2026 World Cup hype that is expected to carry over to MLS." or something like that.

Media sucks. No other way to say it.

There have been discussions about holding games in smaller stadiums in years forward with 48 teams, but not 25,000 seaters.

There is a market for this stadium ahead of 2026 for international friendlies.

Queens always made the most sense - sorry that it took so long. But do we think it’s really happening or is this still way too early days?

Nothing is official, so still "too early" until we get official announcement. And I'd say comfortably most of us won't even start breathing easy until shovels are in ground, some won't believe it until we put butts in seats lol We've got a ways to go.

I choose to believe that once we get an official endorsement from the mayor (if the report is true), then that would really help with public image as well as go a long way when it comes to ULURP

However, NYC should deserve to host at least a game (even a minor game) of the 2026 World Cup!
