This would make parking at Citi Field/The Etihad absolutely miserable, especially on egress. Imagine 20,000 cars trying to leave garages after an event. Brutal. Let's hope it doesn't come to pass.
from a getting there via car perspective sure, from a car-less perspective I like it. I'm currently in the car-less, manhattan phase of my life so to me this is good. I'll come back to this post in 5-10 years when i am out of the city and have a car and will probably hate myself for saying this haha

Yeah as a Westchester resident, taking a 90-minute Metro North-Subway trip isn't nearly as appealing as a 30-minute car ride.

That area should definitely be parkland. The multi-acre flat tarmac that abuts the field is simply ridiculous in a public park. It's too bad it may take a casino to get it done.

As someone living Shwafta's future and driving to games from Westchester, it's maybe slightly easier getting out of a Yankee Stadium parking garage after the game than the Citi Field lot. The key being to have multiple garages with different points of egress.

I love the beautiful, well manicured parkland, which I'm absolutely sure will be just as beautiful in reality if developed. Developers, especially casino developers, never skew the renderings in a way to win over skeptics and fail to deliver, never!

Depends on the game, but yeah -- generally speaking Yankee Stadium is easier to get out of. Wednesday vs Philly I was on the highway in 5 minutes. Saturday against Miami it took me an hour after the full-time whistle to get to the highway and I was getting on with the Miami team bus. Citi Field is horrific to get out of after a sold-out event, but after normal NYCFC games it's also a breeze.

conclusion:
Lots of cars parked bad
Less cars parked good

We have that lease in hand, right? Right?? RIGHT???

NYCFC needs to break ground like, tomorrow.

Mayor Eric L. Adams has been indicted on federal criminal charges, according to people with knowledge of the matter, and will be the first mayor in New York City history to be charged while in office.

ah yes, because breaking ground automatically means they can't stop right after that lol

I don't think this will affect the stadium at all.

I don't think it will, either. I was trying to be a little funny. In all seriousness, this has received full government approvals. I'm not sure any government entity could stop it at this point even if they wanted to. And considering how widely approved it was by every step of NYC government, I can't imagine a scenario in which there would be any political desire to stop it.

Just a reminder that should the mayor resign, the Public Advocate becomes the new mayor...Jumaane Williams

If he said this about Citi, can't imagine what he'll say about Etihad / CFG / Abu Dhabi

He'd then have a special nonpartisan election for mayor within 90 days.

All politicians are clowns or villains.

He can say whatever he wants, but it's not going to change anything.

You need to read the Power Broker.*

One of Robert Moses’ tactics in squashing opposition was to start a project immediately, even where he didn’t have the authority to do so. He knew the momentum from starting a project made it really hard to kill.

Ask for forgiveness, not permission.

I have indeed read the Power Broker.
I just wonder if such a short amount of time would really be enough to get anything done before a "call it off" would make a difference in the momentum.
