Stadium Discussion

F Train (240 person capacty per car) AND Tram (with a capacity of 110 passenegers per car).

There is only one tram car in each direction and it leaves approximately every 10-20 minutes - it would be extremely impractical to transport thousands. Not to mention the already refernced lack of parking.

Randall's Island, which is a pain to get to on public transportation is actually more practical (Icahn Stadium and many fields) - and that is impractical also since there is no train and 15,000 ppl (probably 10,000 who have been drinking) trying to take a bus seems like a nightmare.

How does everyone feel about a stadium on Roosevelt Island? Theres anough space:

Right on South Point Park
Impossible mate. That's the future location of Cornell Tech, and like others have said, transit and parking isn't efficient enough. Hopefully they look at waterfront manufacturing districts in either south Bronx or Brooklyn, as there are some feasible opportunities here, but this is an uphill battle with applying for special use permits. Most likely, they will go with a race track that is suffering; there has been talk of aqueduct racetrack out in ozone park...

I'm all for an Aqueduct stadium.

Aquaduct is growing on me. I was by the LIRR Jamaica Station this weekend. It is about a 25 minute trip from Manhattan. Right across the street from the platform exit is a huge indoor lobby for the free shuttles to the casino. I know they have a ton of free shuttles all over the city, but this one is super convenient. From Jamaica, Aquaduct is about 10-20 minutes depending on traffic. Using this route means you could be at the stadium within an hour from the city. Also the infrastructure is there for the team to provide their own shuttles to games.

The J and E trains also stop at the Jamaica Station, so that can help fans in Brooklyn and Queens if they can't find free shuttles in their areas. (http://www.rwnewyork.com/visit-resorts-world)

the only real positive about the Aquaduct IMO is there is a ton of space for everything. We could have the training grounds, the stadium AND parking etc all in one place. AND its still technically NYC....I say, at this point, lets just fuckin do it

I don't think there is enough Public transportation out at the aqueduct.

If you are going to build it in at the Aquaduct, you might as well built it in Yonkers. It's not impossible to get out there - but it almost is. Anything that takes two-three connections and an hour commute from Manhattan to get to is a non-starter. People who work in Bryant Park and Wall St. won't take two subways, a bus and a shuttle to go to a game.

There's a reason you see so many people in suits at Yankee games and not Met games beyond the obvious - convenience.

Not "technically". It is NYC. South Ozone Park is no less accessible than any other place in the City. As far as ease of access within the city limits Bronx and Staten Island are the worst. Staten Island is probably lower than the worst.

inb4 I like Staten Island very much. I worked there for a little over a year and am very familiar with how easy it is to get around Staten Island...but getting there is tough.

ok youre right its still NYC, but I think its significantly tougher to get to than Yankee Stadium. But all this shit is relative to where your starting point is. Im leaving from LIC, which is and hour and 15 to the Aqueduct and 45 to Yankee Stadium.
