When I met with Patricof I explained that I love Yankee Stadium and its location, and selfishly don't care about "sight lines" because I purposely put my season tickets in Row 1 behind the goal so I would never have any sight line issues, but having said all that, the dwindling attendance was so dramatic it absolutely affected the experience and that attendance is the #1 reason we need out ASAP.

If we still got 30,000 a game though, I would have zero problem being at YS for 10 years. Love it.

Got a call from a ticket rep. Said some news will be released in a month or so. Actual news or NE Revolution style playbook here

"These sections of netting may be removed for soccer matches or other events held at Yankee Stadium."
The removable netting is only the netting that extends beyond the dugouts - so great for Champions and Legends 26 & up

The netting from dugout to dugout will not be removable, but will "draw up" like vertical blinds to enable autographs and player contact during pregame and batting practice.

So if you're Legends 26 and up or Champions, you should have no problem at all.

If you're Legends below 26, there is a chance you'll have an odd unobstructed window to look through.

Can you imagine paying $130 for champions seats behind the goal and having to look through 2 nets!

The lack of progress makes me more frustrated than excited for the coming season. While a completed stadium would be years away, it would be nice to start the season with a light at the end of the subway tunnel.

I seriously doubt they secured a location this quickly after the Belmont faux bid but one can hope.

The way I see it: securing a stadium site is major news. If it we're close to happening it would be near impossible to keep quiet, there would be leaks before it was officially announced. If we're not hearing anything it means we're not close.

Totally agree on this one. The fact that we haven't heard a single thing from anyone in the organization or even media (guys with ties to the team like Crooks or Abramowitz) probably means that nothing is happening any time soon.

If one of our plans is Willet's West, the announcement could be the proposed development and partnership. That whole process will be public, because it almost surely needs state legislature approval. Obviously there will be NIMBY's, but with both the borough president and district city councilman in favor, we stand a good chance of navigating the legal side. We can also continue to negotiate on Bronx sites in parallel. So going public with the proposed development is the announcement I'm expecting next.

In other mildly newsy tidbits, Francisco Moya has now officially been made the City Council’s Zoning Subcommittee Chair, so our man on the inside is well placed to help (once, you know, the club actually gets the ball rolling).

INSIDE MAN!

Goldman Sachs is all in on Major League Soccer.

The Wall Street titan lent $120 million to Orlando City Soccer Club, the fourth MLS stadium loan in the last year for Goldman (NYSE: GS), which has emerged as one of the burgeoning league’s top lenders.

“[MLS] is something that the firm is very supportive of,” said Greg Carey, global head of sports finance at Goldman Sachs. “We are willing to commit a significant amount of money to the league and the teams.”

Goldman last year lent $180 million to expansion franchise LAFC, $100 million to D.C. United, as well as to another team for its stadium that Carey declined to disclose. That likely means that Goldman arranged roughly half a billion dollars in MLS stadium financing in the last 12 months.

Are we that non-disclosed team?!?!?!
