Good for them, bummer for us Soccer fans.

I totally think this was a blown opportunity by NYCFC's ownership group (CFG) and Yankee Global Enterprises. This would've been a perfect location for a whole sports hub and entertainment district, not just a concrete and glass stadium. Well at least something smart is going to be developed there and will be enjoyed by all, not just a one trick pony if you know what I mean.

Anyone able to check IP addresses to figure out which old troll just popped up again?

Also, that’s such a sad attempt at a troll.

While I agree it's a good location for a sports hub, etc. I disagree that it would be a good spot for us as there's no subway. If you read back in this thread you'll see both sides of the transit issue (very politely) discussed.

And welcome to the forum, by the way.

I suggest you take the time to read all 614 pages to understand why this stadium site would have led to the collapse of the club.

Ouch! That stings - NOT!

Well personally I was hoping for a high-end Sporting & Entertainment Hub somewhere cool, not just a generic Soccer stadium by some old railroad tracks that lead to nowhere.

Why don't you get Jackass Trump who is from Queens, NY I might add. Lived in Manhattan most of his life, and whom is a mega real estate developer a phone call and inquire about a new NYCFC Stadium while he's taking a dump on his 24k gold-plated toilet and see what he can do. Yeah right, I mean "WRONG," LOL. He's more like I'll drain your pockets again with another cheesy casino, then drain the swamp. All talk NO action! We need action and more transparency from (CFG) going forward!

It was actually 36 acres when the land was finally put up for bidding - 8 north of Hempstead Turnpike and 28 south.

https://esd.ny.gov/empire-state-development-announces-rfp-belmont-park

"Belmont Park is a major thoroughbred horseracing facility first opened in 1905 and redeveloped from 1964-1968. The subject of this RFP is comprised of two parcels totaling approximately 36 acres, both currently vacant and underutilized parking lots. Site A contains a total of approximately 8 acres, bordered on the south by Hempstead Turnpike and adjacent to the Cross Island Parkway. Site B contains a total of approximately 28 acres and is located south of the Hempstead Turnpike. Respondents may also propose an alternative, which includes the sites and land adjacent to Site A, north of Hempstead Turnpike. Additional land adjacent to Site A included in respondents’ proposals shall total no more than 7 acres for a total of 15 acres including Site A. Respondents who wish to submit an alternative development proposal must also submit a proposal for the Sites."

Bolded bit gets it to 43, FWIW. And we've now both spend more time on this than it merited. :)

Way more confident. There are multiple sources of confirmation that point in the direction of a WP stadium. Currently referred to as the "17 acres".
This is just a brilliant, multi-faceted long con put in place to sink the enthusiasm and willpower of the sellers around the Newton Creek so that CFG shell companies can swoop in and buy them for a fraction of the price.

this isnt the SOTU thread

EDIT: here you go enjoy, http://nycfcforums.com/index.php?threads/sotu.6046/

At the time the Westside Highway in Manhattan was under development dump-the-Trump wanted to build a casino on the waterfront, and because he wasn't able to do that he wanted to have some kind of a floating casino. Whatever floats your boat D.T., literally. Also at the time there was a major proposal for a new New York Jets Football Specific (turf only) West Side Stadium where the Hudson Rail Yards are. As voters we shot that proposal down because we as West Side resident didn't want to pay for it. And also to us it may no sense to just have a American Football specific stadium to just be occupied for 8 home games, that's right just (8) games. That means it would've ONLY been occupied eight days out of the year. It would've sat vacant for 357 days and that was just completely unacceptable and obviously didn't justify the means as local residents and NY tax payers. If it was a multi-use stadium that would've been interesting, but it wasn't going to be unfortunately.

Look were all frustrated fans and New Yorkers, where do we go from here who knows...

Seeing Bob "Baldy" Bradley with a LAFC the hard-hat on, well just ticks me off.

Question for everyone in general. The last big news was Newtown Creek which turned out to be a big dud. Do you feel more confident about Iron Triangle/Willets East or do you view this as just another pipe dream?
Which answer will get us a stadium faster mr intern?

The history of trolls on this board is long and distinguished. From the days of the Man City supporters storming the board until now, they've been great.

10 paragraph essays on a piece of shit site in the middle of Long Island is a massive self own. But that's what happens when your league has folded and you have nothing to look forward to out at MCU Park
