If the stadium does wind up at Willets Point, I have to think that we missed a terrific opportunity for training fields in Flushing Meadow. The park is in some serious need of some TLC. Literally dirt patch fields.

I don't have any faith in the club when it comes to the stadium search, but there are clearly signs that something might be up here.
It seems like there’s way too much smoke here, especially with the rendering of the stadium and the fact that Katz and Moya are involved here. If this falls through at this point, it’d have to be gross incompetence...like Patricof acting like Donald Sterling incompetence. I can easily see an announcement or some other signal like focus groups or surveys coming out this year.

On a personal whining note, I do hate that it takes a bit more work to get to Citi field from where I live (Downtown Brooklyn) than to Yankee stadium - 4 and 7 train vs just a 4 train.
Hopefully this whole project can at minimum also include more reliable 7 train service, so at least it’s not as bad as it is right now for Mets games.

A move to Queens would provide us with unlimited material for chants from the Run DMC collection. For example, Raisin' Hell (tweaked accordingly):

Kings from Queens from Queens come Kings
We're raisin hell like a class when the lunchbell rings
The king will be praised, and hell will be raised
S-s-s-suckers try to faze us but we won't be fazed
So what's your name? N.Y.C.! The King is me!
Your High-ness, or His Majesty!
Now you can debate, c-c-c-concentrate
But you can't imitate N.Y.C. the Great!

does the 7 train suck for mets games? for some reason i always see 7 trains suck bad during work week but weekends its alright ( if there are no planned construction)

Fans have been going in large numbers to Mets games and the US Open for many years. The "it's hard to get to" argument just doesn't fly. This site has been tested over and over for more than 50 years.

to me its more of the trains having break downs and delays like work weeks....the many times ive used the 7 train on weekends ( where i assume most home games will be) and its been good, no express though

FWIW, if memory serves the 7 was express for the game at Citifield.

I do wonder how long this community task force will take. The longer it goes on, the less faith I'd have in Katz/Moya having the needed pull.

I hate to get hyped up because we've been here before but this feels like it's as close as it's ever been to something actually happening.

i honeslty think this is as good as its gonna get in terms of a chance....if this does not work or falls thru then thats it....not happening for decades if not ever

i remember only taking locals...i even got off at an express stop to pick stuff up and still no express happened.

I think this is probably right, but it is still a long way out. This is NY, and politics can always come in and fuck things up, including from places you'd never expect and from which objections are simply opportunistically pursuing a payoff.

For example, that corrupt fool Sheldon Silver torpedoing the stadium on Manhattan's west side because he didn't get something completely unrelated for his district in lower Manhattan.

We've never been here before. If this was a normal city and the team hadn't joined MLS yet, we might not even notice all this. But we've been sniffing around like bloodhounds for 3 years, and have seen this coming for the last year or so. Now all the additional pieces are falling into place and it's much easier to put a puzzle together when you already have the picture (thanks Melinda!).

I already have 4 friends (at least 2 seats each) who will join on with me as STH if we get the Willets Point Stadium. People are getting hyped.
