I think there is zero chance NYPD would allow a roadway under the stadium. It would be such an easy target and impossible to defend from a skilled terrorist attack. Same with an active subway line.
Maybe I'm over thinking it and it's not as dangerous as I think, my terrorism skills are not so sharp, but I think any rendering that has a road going under it is likely faked.

Edit: I probably am over thinking it, seeing as how buildings are built atop roads in the city.

A hospital is being expanded over the FDR and that’s ok. Maybe a stadium would be treated differently or hardened accordingly. There are also tunnels under the rivers that have countless vehicles moving through. More skilled people than us will pass off on anything done.

I like that the time was taken to mashup a second (are the more out there?) collage, because it took finding the right photo and rendering the stadium from a different perspective.

I still think it’s a crappy mashup, because the scale of the stadium, compared to the surroundings, seems out of whack. And they didn’t put the reflection of the stadium in the water (on the lower right corner).

And to reiterate my earlier post, the openness of the promenades is fantastic. A stadium in that location would be seen by tens of thousands of people every day and it’s an instant marketing opportunity- definitely would get the word out about the club and matches that would likely produce a STH bump, or at the worst more game-day purchases.

Somebody tweeted to the poster asking if it’s Hudson Yard, and the poster answered ‘yes.’ WTF?!? It doesn’t look anything like Hudson Yards let alone Manhattan. It’s one thing to post a rumor, but that dude should be responsible enough not to post obviously false information.

I think this is our new peeping Lampard. Just take that rendering and drop it on top of something. Anything. There you go, Stadium rumor.

I’m holding out hope of another rendering of this site dropping soon. I don’t even care if this is the final site or not, it’s much needed Arena porn to get excited over and dim negative thoughts regarding the process. And I really like the location from a marketing standpoint of free advertising to motorists, that it’s on the river and takes advantage of the views, and that it’s smack dab in the city - it’s not even way out in a borough, but rather practically straddling the Bronx/Manhattan demarcation around 130th Street.

My only real beef with the location is that from the 6 train it’s about a 3/4mile walk which is easily doable with good weather and no kids in tow, but could be a pain otherwise; that walk will help invigorate the businesses along the way, so that’s a plus. One wish that isn’t in the mashup would be to add a more direct pedestrian bridge from the 6 so one wouldn’t have to walk across the Willis Avenue Bridge. Extra money, extra permits and approvals (construction approvals on/over waterways are a bitch to navigate) would be involved, but when doling our everything for a stadium the bridge would be just another percentage.

I also wonder what the capacity of this hypothetical stadium would be? Jammed in there with a river on one side and buildings/highways on the other, plus it’s already a full circle parti-diagram already (City’s trademark design), future expansion isn’t overly clear as to how to accommodate. Maybe this was an early 40k option? Hence why it’s now “leaked” since it’s not gonna happen but does show the level of investigation the club is hitting at each location???

Kinda into the multiple light-filled concourses and what looks like a bridge over the road way. Tarp still looks cheap and RBA-like. If I'm super optimistic I could convince myself that it's something like Allianz, but it's probably a .... stretch

Agree on the concourses. Looks great. The ability to move around easily and to overlook the water and the city beyond would be fantastic.

Interesting thing to note on the rendering is that the stadium would have to be constructed over the existing train tracks as this is a requirement of the ESD's RFEI:

  • Preserve the designated intermodal rail facility footprint at Harlem River Yards.

Probably just name confusion between Hudson Yards and Harlem River Yards and someone not paying close attention.

Well, when somebody is giving definitive answers about an unsubstantiated rumor, those answers should be correct. Can’t have unsubstantiated answers about unsubstantiated rumors. Sheesh.
