Stadium Discussion

Honestly, if Bloomberg was still mayor NYC FC would have its own stadium in less than four years in the Bronx, because there was already a plan in place to do so. de Blasio is messing everything up with this city and this team. I cannot wait to vote that eating Pizza with a fork, Red Sox loving politician out of office.

No offense but that is plain stupid, this the same guy that let the Knicks owner kill a FOOTBALL stadium for the Jets. Bloomberg was massively over rated as a mayor.

Anyway some Yankees players are concerned

Mark Tixera isn't too happy about sharing Yankee Stadium.

As a Yankee fan I can proudly say Mark can go...

I'm not much of a baseball fan (especially Yankees), but this seems blown way out of proportion to me. There will be 17 soccer games compared to what, 81 baseball games? Will it really make that much of a difference in the scheme of things?

I don't blame the Yankee players for being concerned. This could really screw up their game, or get them hurt. I hope not. All it takes is one player getting hurt because of this, and NYCFC will be looking for a new temporary home. The past soccer games there have been limited to a couple of games. They've never handled a full MLS season. Who knows what will happen.

We need a SSS asap.

22 guys running for 90 minutes is gonna tear up that outfield grass a lot more than 6 guys mostly standing still and occasionally chasing down a fly. Definitely a legitimate concern.

Ultimately this is good for us, because the more Tex and the other Yankees complain, the more incentive it gives us to build an SSS ASAP.

The only problem with rushing is that we probably may end up with a location for a SSS that not many want or is not convenient.

Please someone promise me that Red Bull Arena is ruled out as an option; while RBA is a fantastic stadium to watch a soccer match, I don't want this team based in New Jersey. I would prefer a stadium in the Bronx, but would take Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn or even Westchester over New Jersey. I realize that there are probably 10,000 different views on this subject.

The only way I would like playing in RBA would be if we played there for a year an won the cup. They would never live that one down.

I think it's only practical that we should expect that to be thrown out as a temporary option. I can not see us playing 5 years in Yankee Stadium. It's impractical now and it will get worse as time goes on. It makes too much sense for us not to share RBA for a definite amount of time while a stadium is being built.

Not a whole lot of love for mark?

No love for Mark... The guy made $243,421 per hit last year. Tex should be more concerned with his swing/winning than the grass.

Plus, his production has been declining each year since his mega-deal with Yanks.

(He's no Tino Martinez)

What if the team announced tomorrow (in the same press release) that they had secured land and building approval for a spot in the Bronx. It would take 1 year to get the project off the ground and then it would take 3 years to build. Concurrently, we have entered into an agreement with RedBull to share their arena for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 seasons before we enter the new Mini-had Stadium in 2019.
